Job summary

BJC Foods in Selangor seeks a hands-on Maintenance & Utilities Engineer to operate gas, electrical and water systems, monitor performance, and coordinate service activities. The role requires routine inspections, leak checks, and preventive maintenance to ensure continuous production support.

Applicants should have a Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and a relevant credential; at least 2 years in utility operation is preferred. The position is on-site with potential on-call duties.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical or related engineering field (e.g. SKM Tahap 3).
• Chargeman A0/A1 or Wireman certificate is an added advantage.
• At least 2 years of experience in utility operation and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor gas supply system including metering skid and gas lines.
• Record daily gas pressure, flow and consumption readings and compare with production output.
• Inspect gas piping for leaks and report any leakage immediately.
• Carry out routine checks and cleaning of burner accessories and control components.
• Monitor electrical supply, panels, and power distribution; perform minor repairs as needed.
• Monitor water supply, tanks, pumps and solar PV generation; record readings and report discrepancies.
• Coordinate with service providers for scheduled maintenance and repairs.
• Update daily utility log sheets and work with minimal supervision.

Natural Gas (NG) Supply & Burner Utility System

• Operate and monitor the natural gas supply system including metering skid, pressure regulating station, isolation valves and distribution piping to PC Line and FC Line burners
• Record daily gas pressure, flow and consumption readings and compare against production output and supplier meter reading
• Perform routine inspection and leak check on gas piping, joints, valves and flexible connections and report any leakage immediately
• Carry out routine check and cleaning of burner accessories, ignition system, flame detector, gas train components, filters and strainers
• Assist and supervise gas supplier and appointed contractor during scheduled servicing, inspection and repair of the gas system

Electrical Supply & Power Distribution

• Monitor main incoming supply, transformer, main switchboard, distribution board and capacitor bank; record voltage, current, power factor and kWh readings
• Perform routine inspection of electrical panels, cabling, lighting, motors and control panels and report abnormal heating, tripping or loose connection
• Carry out minor electrical repair and replacement such as lighting, contactor, relay, fuse, sensor and control wiring
• Monitor genset and standby power equipment readiness including fuel level, battery and test-run record

Water Supply System

• Operate and monitor the factory water supply system including main intake, storage tank, transfer and booster pump, filtration and softener / RO system
• Record daily water meter reading, tank level and system pressure and report abnormal consumption
• Perform routine check, cleaning and minor repair on pumps, valves, piping and water distribution line; attend to leakage and blockage
• Support periodic tank cleaning, water sampling and filter or media replacement activity
• Monitor daily and monthly solar PV generation through the monitoring system and record generation data
• Verify actual generation against supplier / concessionaire invoice and performance guarantee, and report any shortfall or discrepancy
• Perform visual inspection of panels, inverters, cabling and mounting structure; report soiling, shading, damage or fault alarm
• Coordinate with the solar service provider for scheduled cleaning, servicing and rectification works

Building & Facility Integrity

• Conduct routine inspection of factory building and facility covering roof, ceiling, wall, flooring, door, drainage, gutter and downpipe
• Identify and report structural defect, water leakage, ponding, corrosion and damaged finishes; carry out minor repair works
• Monitor and maintain supporting facility such as loading bay, walkway, fencing, lighting, plumbing and sanitary system
• Assist and supervise appointed contractor during building repair, renovation and facility improvement works

Other Utility Equipment

• Operate, monitor and carry out routine and preventive maintenance on supporting utility equipment such as air compressor, chiller, cooling tower and ventilation system
• Perform lubrication, filter cleaning, belt and bearing check and replacement of consumable parts
• Attend emergency and unscheduled repair of utility equipment during production and perform repair during machine service window
• Diagnose problem root cause, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustment

Records & Others

• Update daily utility log sheet, machine checklist, preventive maintenance record and Maintenance Requisition (MR) Form
• Respond to MR Form raised by production and other departments and update completion status
• Able to attend duty during off day and on-call basis if necessary and to work with minimum supervision
• Perform assigned job from Senior Engineering Executive / Engineering superior

Education

• Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical or other related engineering field such as Sijil Kemahiran Tahap 3 (SKM Tahap 3)
• Possession of Chargeman A0 / A1 or Wireman certificate will be an added advantage

Experience

• At least 2 years of experience in utility operation and maintenance covering gas, electrical, water or building services, preferably in the food or manufacturing industry
• Capable of troubleshooting utility and general plant equipment
