Job summary

Vsconsultancy in Selangor is seeking an experienced Operating Theatre Nurse to join our clinical team. This full-time role focuses on perioperative care, instrument handling, and maintaining aseptic theatre practices to support safe surgical outcomes.

You will collaborate with surgeons, anesthetists and theatre staff, monitor patient vitals, assist during procedures, manage equipment, and ensure accurate documentation and handovers between theatre and recovery areas.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Preparing and maintaining operating theatre equipment, instruments and supplies in accordance with infection control and safety protocols.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Operating Theatre (OT) Nurse in Selangor. This is a full-time position that plays a critical role in our healthcare operations, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and surgical support. As an OT Nurse, you will be at the heart of our surgical services, providing essential perioperative care and maintaining the safety and efficiency of our operating theatres. This role is strategically important to our healthcare delivery mission and directly impacts patient outcomes and surgical team performance.

Key responsibilities

Preparing and maintaining operating theatre equipment, instruments and supplies in accordance with strict infection control and safety protocols

Assisting surgical teams during operative procedures, providing expert instrumentation and swab management

Monitoring patient vital signs and maintaining accurate records throughout surgical procedures

Ensuring theatre environment cleanliness and adherence to aseptic techniques at all times

Receiving and caring for patients in the recovery area, monitoring their post-operative condition and vital signs

Providing clear communication and handover between theatre and recovery teams to ensure continuity of care

Identifying and reporting potential complications or concerns to the surgical team promptly

Maintaining comprehensive and accurate documentation of all procedures, interventions and patient responses

Collaborating effectively with surgeons, anaesthetists and other theatre staff to ensure smooth surgical operations

Supporting infection control measures and contributing to a safe, organised and professional theatre environment

What we're looking for

Current and valid nursing registration or licensure in Malaysia with theatre nursing qualification or experience

Minimum 2-3 years' experience working in an operating theatre or perioperative environment

Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, aseptic techniques and infection control protocols

Proficiency in theatre equipment operation and instrument handling

Excellent clinical assessment skills and the ability to identify potential complications early

Outstanding communication and teamwork abilities, with the capacity to work effectively under pressure

Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate records

Ability to remain calm and composed during emergencies or complex surgical procedures

Commitment to continuous professional development and maintaining current competencies

Physical ability to stand for extended periods and manage the physical demands of theatre nursing

Preferably certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS)
