We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Operating Theatre Nurse to join in Ipoh, Perak. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of surgical care. As an Operating Theatre Nurse, you will be at the heart of the surgical team, providing essential support to surgeons, anaesthetists, and other theatre staff whilst maintaining the highest standards of patient care and safety. This position is based on-site in Ipoh, Perak, where you will work in a dynamic and professional theatre environment.
Preparing and maintaining the operating theatre environment, ensuring all equipment, instruments, and supplies are sterile and readily available for surgical procedures
Assisting the surgical team during operations, including passing instruments, sponges, and other materials to surgeons as required
Monitoring and recording vital signs and patient responses during surgical procedures
Ensuring strict adherence to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques throughout all surgical procedures
Maintaining accurate and detailed records of all instruments, swabs, and materials used during surgery
Providing compassionate pre- and post-operative care to patients, including reassurance and comfort measures
Collaborating effectively with the wider surgical team to ensure smooth theatre operations and optimal patient outcomes
Troubleshooting and operating theatre equipment, and reporting any faults or maintenance requirements promptly
Adhering to all relevant healthcare legislation, regulations, and organisational policies and procedures
Maintaining professional standards and continuing professional development through training and education
A recognised nursing qualification with registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) or equivalent professional nursing credential
Substantial experience working in an operating theatre or surgical recovery environment, ideally a minimum of 2-3 years' post-qualification experience
In-depth knowledge of surgical procedures, theatre protocols, and infection control measures
Excellent manual dexterity and the ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with medical professionals and support staff
Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation
A commitment to patient safety and maintaining the highest standards of clinical practice
Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
Flexibility to work varying shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and potentially on-call duties
Current knowledge of emergency procedures and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification
Preferred experience with specialist surgical disciplines such as orthopaedics, cardiothoracic, or neurosurgery
