Job summary

Sunway Medical Centre Sdn Bhd in Malaysia is seeking a dedicated Staff Nurse to join our Operating Theatre team. The role focuses on maintaining aseptic/sterile technique, patient checks, and safe surgical procedures.

You will prepare and maintain the operating room, scrub and circulate across procedures, respond to emergencies, and provide perioperative care. Diploma/degree in nursing and registration with the Malaysian Nursing Board are required; 1–5 years’ perioperative experience is

• Diploma/ Degree in Nursing and valid registration with the Malaysian Nursing Board.
• 1–5 years’ experience as a nurse providing perioperative care.
• Post basic certification is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Maintain aseptic and sterile techniques.
• Conduct mandatory patient checks including informed consent, patient identity and operation site before procedures.
• Carry out surgical checks pre-, intra-, and post-procedure.
• Prepare and maintain operating room for all procedures.
• Circulate and scrub for various surgical procedures.
• Respond to surgical emergencies and ensure patient safety.
• Delivery of perioperative nursing care across coordinator, circulator, scrub, and GA assistant roles.

Job description

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Staff Nurseto join our team in Operating Theatre Department.

• Good knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniques.
• Conduct mandatory patient checks including informed consent, patient identity and operation site prior to the start of procedure.
• Conduct mandatory surgical checks prior to the start of the procedure, during and pre-wound closure.
• Anticipating potential risk and execute appropriate action to ensure safe environment.
• Demonstrating operational knowledge of nursing procedure applicable to area of assignment.
• Provided professional nursing care to patients undergoing surgery.
• Managing resources to achieve optimum productivity.
• Assembled the type and quantity of material and special equipment needed for daily procedures and possible emergencies.
• Prepared and maintained operating room for all surgical procedures.
• Established and utilize a checklist to monitor the physical plan of the operating room and equipment for conformity to all national standards.
• Circulate and scrub for an array of surgical procedures. Ensuring safety for the patient and all personnel.
• Dispose of sharp and contaminated material and disinfect equipment accordingly after the procedure.
• Responded to surgical emergency requirements such as cardiac, pulmonary, or respiratory failure and haemorrhage.
• Delivery of care to patients in the roles of the Coordinator, circulator, scrub, first assistant, GA assistant, and post-operative care.

Qualifications &Requirement
