We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Operating Theatre Nurse to join the healthcare team. This is a full-time position based in Ipoh, Perak, where you will play a critical role in supporting surgical operations and ensuring the highest standards of patient care in a theatre environment. As an Operating Theatre Nurse, you will be at the heart of our surgical services, working as part of a multidisciplinary team to facilitate safe and efficient surgical procedures whilst maintaining a sterile environment and providing exceptional patient support.
Preparing and maintaining the operating theatre environment, including ensuring all equipment is sterile, functional and readily available before surgical procedures commence
Assisting surgical teams during operations by providing instruments, equipment and supplies in a timely and efficient manner
Monitoring and maintaining aseptic technique throughout surgical procedures to prevent contamination and reduce infection risk
Documenting surgical procedures accurately, including details of equipment used, specimens collected and any incidents or complications
Supporting patient care before, during and after surgical procedures, including positioning, monitoring vital signs and providing reassurance
Collaborating with surgeons, anaesthetists and other theatre staff to ensure smooth surgical workflow and optimal patient outcomes
Maintaining a clean, organised and safe theatre environment in compliance with infection control protocols and health and safety regulations
Assisting with the recovery and post-operative care of patients, monitoring their condition and reporting any concerns to senior staff
Contributing to the training and mentoring of junior theatre staff and students where appropriate
A valid nursing qualification (RN or equivalent) recognised by the Malaysian nursing regulatory body
At least 2-3 years of experience working in an operating theatre or surgical environment
Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, equipment and aseptic techniques
Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of infection control and patient safety
Ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced surgical environment
Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods and lift patients or equipment safely
Strong organisational and time management skills
A compassionate approach to patient care with a focus on minimising patient anxiety and discomfort
Knowledge of relevant healthcare regulations, standards and best practice guidelines
Preference given to candidates with Advanced Life Support (ALS) or equivalent certification
