Job summary

FlexiTalent China seeks a senior procurement/category specialist based in Malaysia to lead MRO sourcing for the Malaysian market. Expect frequent on-site visits to customer plants, cross-functional collaboration with sales, procurement and logistics, and long-term category planning.

You will analyze local demand, optimise portfolios, manage SKU mix, track sales and gross margin, and support delivery and after-sales matching. Fluency in English and Chinese is preferred, with willingness to travel.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of relevant experience in the MRO industry.
• Familiar with general industrial supplies, hand and power tools, PPE and industrial chemicals.
• Candidates with both sales and procurement backgrounds are highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct frequent on-site visits to customer factories to communicate with customers and identify their MRO needs.
• Take over opportunities from sales and lead product selection, category layout and long-term planning for the Malaysian market.
• Research local MRO demand, analyze competitors and pricing to optimise portfolio and increase sales and gross profit.
• Collaborate with procurement and supplier teams to optimise product supply structure and manage lifecycle.
• Track category data (sales, inventory, gross margin) and prepare analyses to propose optimisations.
• Coordinate with local sales, warehouse and logistics to align supply with demand and ensure delivery and after-sales matching.
• Assist regional lead in local category strategies and expanding quality product resources for Malaysian customers.

Work Location

Based in Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur or Penang available; Penang preferred). Frequent on-site business trips to customer plants across Malaysia are required.

Job Responsibilities

Conduct frequent on-site visits to customer factories to communicate with customers and accurately identify, capture and structure their MRO procurement demands.

Take over business opportunities from sales teams and be responsible for product selection, category layout and medium- to long-term category planning for the Malaysian market.

Research local MRO market demand, competitor product assortment and pricing systems; optimise the cross-border and local product portfolio to increase category sales volume and gross profit.

Work with procurement and supplier teams to optimise product supply structure, manage product lifecycle, adjust SKU mix and phase out low-performing products.

Track category operating data including sales, inventory and gross margin; produce regular analysis reports and propose category operation optimisation plans.

Collaborate with local sales, warehouse and logistics teams to align product supply with customer demand, support stable delivery and after-sales product matching.

Assist the regional lead in rolling out localised category operation strategies and expanding high-quality product resources that match Malaysian manufacturing customers.

Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree or above; majors in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Industrial Engineering, Marketing or related fields are preferred.

Experience: 5–10 years of relevant experience in the MRO industry; solid familiarity with general industrial supplies, hand and power tools, PPE and industrial chemicals; candidates with both sales and procurement backgrounds are highly preferred.

Language: Fluent in Chinese and business English; able to independently handle on-site customer demand discussions, business communication and report writing in both languages.

Competencies: Able to independently complete customer demand structuring, product selection and category planning; strong data analysis, market insight and cross-team coordination skills; able to accept frequent customer site visits and travel across states in Malaysia.
