Mosca Malaysia is seeking a proactive Mechatronics Engineer to lead localization efforts for automated strapping and packaging equipment. You will validate designs, support FAI, and resolve technical issues on the production floor to improve reliability and manufacturability.

The role requires strong mechanical, electrical, and automation knowledge and the ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechatronics, mechanical, electrical, automation or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years in automation equipment, packaging machinery, or related manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with localization projects, FAI and troubleshooting is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead localization projects to reduce costs and optimize supply chain.
  • Coordinate FAI activities and verify product conformance to drawings and specs.
  • Troubleshoot electromechanical issues and drive root cause analysis (8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone, FMEA).
  • Support automation and control systems—PLC, HMI, servo drives, motion control.
  • Maintain documentation, change control, DFMEA, risk assessments, and audits.

We are seeking a proactive and hands‑on Mechatronics Engineer to support localization initiatives, product validation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement activities for automated strapping and packaging equipment. The role requires strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and automation systems, with the ability to independently manage assigned projects and technical challenges with minimal supervision.

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving localization projects, supporting First Article Inspection (FAI), resolving technical issues, implementing design improvements, and enhancing product reliability, quality, and manufacturability

Key Responsibilities

Localization & Product Engineering

Lead and execute component and assembly localization projects to achieve cost reduction and supply chain optimization objectives.

Evaluate alternative suppliers, materials, and manufacturing processes for localized components.

Perform technical assessments and qualification of localized parts to ensure compliance with engineering, quality, and functional requirements.

Coordinate with procurement, manufacturing, quality, and suppliers throughout localization activities.

Maintain and update engineering drawings, BOMs, specifications, and technical documentation.

Manage engineering changes related to localization and product improvement activities.

First Article Inspection (FAI) & Product Validation

Support and coordinate First Article Inspection (FAI) activities for localized components, engineering changes, and product enhancements.

Verify product conformity against engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.

Conduct validation testing and performance evaluation of modified or localized components.

Investigate FAI discrepancies and implement corrective and preventive actions.

Ensure proper documentation and traceability for all engineering changes.

Troubleshooting & Technical Support

Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, servo, and PLC-related issues affecting product performance and manufacturing operations.

Conduct root cause analysis using structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, and FMEA.

Support production, quality, service, and customer-related technical issues.

Develop and implement corrective actions for recurring product and process issues.

Analyze equipment failures and drive permanent corrective solutions.

Identify and implement product improvements to enhance reliability, quality, performance, and manufacturability.

Drive cost reduction initiatives through design optimization and localization activities.

Support design reviews, risk assessments, and validation activities.

Apply Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles to improve production efficiency.

Monitor product performance and recommend continuous improvement opportunities.

Automation & Control Systems

Support troubleshooting and optimization of PLC, HMI, servo drive, and motion control systems.

Assist in machine testing, commissioning, and performance verification.

Support implementation of automation improvement projects.

Troubleshoot industrial communication and control systems where required.

Compliance & Documentation

Ensure compliance with applicable safety, engineering, and quality standards.

Maintain engineering records, validation reports, test reports, and change documentation.

Support DFMEA, risk assessments, and verification activities.

Participate in internal and external audits when required.

Expected Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related discipline.

Minimum 5 years of experience in automation equipment, packaging machinery, industrial equipment, or related manufacturing environments.

Experience in localization projects, product improvement, FAI, and troubleshooting activities is preferred.

Experience working with electromechanical and automated systems.
