Job summary

SK-TEC AUTOMATION & ENGINEERING SDN BHD is seeking an experienced engineer to translate customer specifications into functional 3D mechanical concepts and system layouts. You will perform complete 3D assembly modeling using SolidWorks for custom grippers, frames, mounting interfaces, and automation mechanisms.

The role requires 3-5 years of hands-on experience in 3D CAD modeling, 2D drawing prep, and attention to DFM/DFA principles, with practical knowledge of shop floor fabrication and CNC

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, or equivalent.
• 3-5 years of expertise in 3D CAD modeling (SolidWorks or equivalent), 2D drawing preparation, machine design principles, DFM/ DFA, and component selection.
• Experience in automation, robotics, EOAT or SPM is an advantage.
• Practical understanding of shop floor fabrication, CNC tolerances, surface finishes, and assembly processes.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and meet project timelines.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with local CNC machining vendors, sheet metal fabricators, and internal assembly technicians to troubleshoot fitting or machining issues.
• Support fabrication & assembly activities and ensure design intent is maintained through production.

Concept Development & Customer Liaison

Analyze customer application specifications and translate them into functional 3D mechanical concepts and system layouts.

3D CAD Design & Detailing

Perform complete 3D assembly modeling using SolidWorks (or equivalent) for custom grippers, structural frames, mounting interfaces, and automation mechanisms.

Fabrication & Assembly Support

Collaborate closely with local CNC machining vendors, sheet metal fabricators, and internal assembly technicians to troubleshoot fitting or machining issues.

What we're looking for

Education

Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, or equivalent.

Proficiency

Proven 3-5 years of expertise in 3D CAD modeling (SolidWorks or equivalent), 2D engineering drawing preparation, machine design principles, Design for Manufacturability & Assembly (DFM/DFA), and component selection.

Experience

in automation, robotics, EOAT or SPM is an advantage

Practical Machine Knowledge

Practical understanding of standard shop floor fabrication, CNC machining tolerances, surface finishes, and assembly processes.

Autonomy & Drive

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, manage project timelines, and communicate technical solutions clearly.
