Sun Yang Tech Sdn Bhd in Melaka is seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer to join our engineering team. This full-time role focuses on developing and designing mechanical systems and components that meet client requirements and industry standards.

You will work on diverse projects, perform CAD-based design work, run analyses, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions from concept to manufacturing readiness.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 2-5 years of experience in mechanical design/manufacturing environment.
• Advanced CAD proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Fusion 360 or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles including stress analysis and materials selection.
• Familiarity with GD&T and ability to create engineering drawings to international standards.
• Experience with design validation, simulations or FEA is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed mechanical designs and technical drawings using CAD software.
• Conduct design analyses and simulations to verify function and durability.
• Collaborate with engineers, PMs and manufacturing specialists to develop feasible solutions.
• Review technical specs and customer requirements to inform design development.
• Select materials and components based on application and cost considerations.
• Prepare documentation including drawings, BOMs and design reports.
• Support transition of designs from development to manufacturing.

About the role

Sun Yang Tech Sdn Bhd is seeking a talented Mechanical Designer to join our engineering team in Melaka. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in developing and designing mechanical systems and components that drive our innovative products. As a Mechanical Designer, you will be at the heart of our product development process, transforming concepts into functional designs that meet our clients' requirements and industry standards. Key responsibilities

• Create detailed mechanical designs and technical drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software, ensuring accuracy and compliance with engineering standards
• Conduct design analysis and simulations to verify functionality, durability, and performance of mechanical systems
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineers, project managers, and manufacturing specialists to develop feasible design solutions
• Review and interpret technical specifications, customer requirements, and project briefs to inform design development
• Perform material selection and component specifications based on application requirements and cost considerations
• Prepare and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including drawings, bills of materials, and design reports
• Support the transition of designs from development to manufacturing by providing technical guidance and addressing production challenges
• Participate in design reviews and provide recommendations for design improvements and optimisation
• Stay current with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and mechanical design tools to enhance productivity and innovation

What we're looking for

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
• Proven experience as a Mechanical Designer or similar role, ideally with 2-5 years in a manufacturing or product development environment
• Advanced proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or equivalent platforms
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including stress analysis, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics
• Competency in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and ability to create engineering drawings to international standards
• Experience with simulation software and finite element analysis (FEA) is advantageous
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality in all design deliverables
• Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability (DFM) principles
