Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD/SolidWorks) for 2D/3D drawings and assemblies.
• Strong understanding of mechanical principles, materials and manufacturing processes.
• Experience in producing technical documentation and drawings.
• Familiarity with building codes, safety standards and regulations.
• Good communication and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience with project management tools and version control is a plus.

About the role

We are seeking a skilled and innovative Mechanical Designer to join Estek Automation Sdn Bhd. This is a full-time position based in Batu Kawan, Penang, where you will play a crucial role in the design and development of mechanical systems and components. As a Mechanical Designer, you will be responsible for translating project requirements into detailed technical drawings and specifications, ensuring that all designs meet industry standards, safety regulations, and project objectives. This role is integral to our construction contracts management operations, contributing directly to the successful delivery of complex automation projects.

Key responsibilities

Create detailed mechanical drawings and 3D models using CAD software, ensuring accuracy and compliance with design standards

Develop specifications and technical documentation for mechanical components and assemblies

Collaborate with engineers, project managers and clients to understand design requirements and translate them into practical solutions

Conduct feasibility studies and design analyses to optimise mechanical systems for performance, cost-effectiveness and manufacturability

Review and validate designs against project specifications, building codes and safety standards

Prepare design reports and present findings to stakeholders and project teams

Support contract management processes by providing technical documentation and design clarifications

Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure that designs can be effectively produced and installed

Participate in design reviews and implement feedback from colleagues and clients

What we're looking for

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design or related field

Proven experience as a Mechanical Designer or similar role, preferably within the construction or automation industry

Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar design tools

Strong understanding of mechanical principles, materials science and manufacturing processes

Knowledge of relevant building codes, safety standards and industry regulations

Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce accurate technical documentation

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work creatively under pressure

Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams

Experience with project management software and version control systems is advantageous

Familiarity with automation systems and mechanical integration is preferred
