Job summary

ASA System (M) Sdn.Bhd is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to conceptualize and develop mechanical systems, create 3D CAD models, and perform analyses to optimize designs. The role requires collaboration with electrical and industrial design teams, prototyping, and close involvement with manufacturing for smooth production integration.

The ideal candidate holds a diploma or degree in mechanical engineering with 3–5 years of relevant experience, strong CAD skills (SolidWorks, AutoCAD), and

• 3–5 years of experience in mechanical design, automation, or a related field.
• Proficient in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent.
• Able to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Good communication, problem-solving and teamwork skills.
• Willing to travel or work on-site when required.

Responsibilities

• Conceptual design and development of mechanical systems and components based on project requirements.
• Create detailed 3D models and engineering drawings using CAD software.
• Perform engineering calculations, simulations, and analyses to validate designs.
• Select materials, components, and manufacturing processes to meet specs, cost, and quality.
• Coordinate prototyping and testing to validate concepts and gather performance data.
• Prepare design documentation including drawings, BOM, and assembly instructions.
• Collaborate with electrical, industrial design, and manufacturing teams to integrate designs.
• Provide manufacturing support and implement design changes as needed.
• Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in mechanical design.

Job description

Conceptual Design and Development: Collaborate with the product development team to conceptualize and design mechanical systems, components, or products based on project requirements.

3D Modelling and CAD: Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to create detailed 3D models and engineering drawings of mechanical designs

Engineering Analysis: Perform engineering calculations, simulations, and analysis to validate and optimize designs.

Material and Component Selection: Identify appropriate materials, components, and manufacturing processes to meet design specifications, cost targets, and quality standards.

Prototyping and Testing: Coordinate the fabrication and testing of prototypes to validate design concepts, identify potential issues, and gather performance data.

Design Documentation: Prepare detailed design documentation, including engineering drawings, specifications, bill of materials (BOM), and assembly instructions.

Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, industrial designers, and manufacturing personnel, to ensure effective collaboration and integration of mechanical designs into the overall product development process.

Manufacturing Support: Provide support to manufacturing teams during production, addressing design-related issues, and implementing design changes as necessary.

Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in mechanical design.
