SK-TEC Automation & Engineering SDN BHD in Malaysia seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to convert customer specs into robust 3D concepts and system layouts for automation projects. You will create 3D assemblies in SolidWorks, produce 2D drawings, and work with local CNC vendors and internal teams to ensure manufacturability and proper fit.
Applicants should have a Bachelor’s or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with 3–5 years of relevant experience, and a solid grasp of DFMA, shop-floor
Concept Development & Customer Liaison: Analyze customer application specifications and translate them into functional 3D mechanical concepts and system layouts.
3D CAD Design & Detailing: Perform complete 3D assembly modeling using SolidWorks (or equivalent) for custom grippers, structural frames, mounting interfaces, and automation mechanisms.
Fabrication & Assembly Support: Collaborate closely with local CNC machining vendors, sheet metal fabricators, and internal assembly technicians to troubleshoot fitting or machining issues.
What we're looking for
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, or equivalent.
Proficiency: Proven 3-5 years of expertise in 3D CAD modeling (SolidWorks or equivalent), 2D engineering drawing preparation, machine design principles, Design for Manufacturability & Assembly (DFM/DFA), and component selection.
Experience in automation, robotics, EOAT or SPM is an advantage
Practical Machine Knowledge: Practical understanding of standard shop floor fabrication, CNC machining tolerances, surface finishes, and assembly processes.
Autonomy & Drive: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, manage project timelines, and communicate technical solutions clearly.
