Job summary

Keysight Technologies Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a Mechanical Design and Process Engineer, Advanced, to drive mechanical design, prototyping, and process improvements for automated systems in our Penang facility.

The role requires strong fundamentals in mechanics, fluid dynamics, and materials science, plus experience with 2D/3D CAD and simulation tools, and collaboration across design, manufacturing, and suppliers to meet performance and reliability targets.

Qualifications

• Strong foundational knowledge of mechanics, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and materials science.
• Proficiency in 2D/3D modeling and simulation tools (specify preferred software).

Responsibilities

• Assemble and design mechanical components and systems using CAD tools (NX, SolidWorks, Creo).
• Lead design efforts for automation systems—pneumatics, hydraulics, PLCs, conveyors.
• Support non-automation mechanical design tasks—structures, enclosures, fixtures.
• Conduct simulations and analysis using ANSYS, FEA, and 6SigmaET.
• Perform DFx reviews to ensure manufacturability and reliability.
• Develop prototypes and perform testing and failure analysis.
• Collaborate with suppliers and contract manufacturers for feasibility and cost.
• Create and maintain detailed engineering documentation and process instructions.
• Deliver outputs aligned with project timelines and cost targets.
• Take on diverse tasks as project scope requires.

• Design mechanical components and systems using CAD tools (e.g., NX, SolidWorks, Creo).
• Lead design efforts for automation systems involving pneumatics and hydraulics, PLC and conveyor systems, motion control, sensors and actuators.
• Support non-automation mechanical design tasks such as structural components, enclosures, fixtures, and general mechanical assemblies.
• Conduct simulations and analysis using tools like ANSYS, FEA, and 6SigmaET.
• Perform DFx reviews and ensure designs meet manufacturability and reliability standards.
• Develop prototypes and conduct performance testing and failure analysis.
• Collaborate with suppliers and contract manufacturers to ensure design feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
• Create and maintain detailed engineering documentation and process instructions.
• Deliver mechanical design outputs aligned with project timelines and cost targets.
• Demonstrate flexibility in taking on diverse mechanical design tasks as required by project scope.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in mechanical design, with a proven track record in automation systems design.
• Strong understanding of pneumatic, hydraulic, and conveyor systems.
• Experience with PLC integration and control systems is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes (machining, welding, 3D printing).
