Job summary

Agilent Technologies Inc. in Penang is seeking a Materials Engineer to improve supplier piece-parts quality, evaluate alternative materials, and support NPI and product transfer.

You will collaborate with manufacturing to resolve material issues, lead cost-saving substitutions, and guide less experienced engineers. The role requires a degree in Mechatronics or related fields and strong communication in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechatronics, Electrical & Engineering, Materials Engineering Sciences with minimum 3-5 years related experience.
• Excellent communication skills and able to work with all levels.
• Flexible in switching roles, responsibility & new task when needed.
• A desire to work under aggressive deadlines, fast paced & collaborate environment.
• Resourcefulness, attention to details, demonstrate sound analysis skill and offering solutions.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support in terms of specification interpretation, adequacy of existing documentation, disposition of non-conforming materials, and training on the usage of all inspection measuring equipment.
• Identify and plan for inspection and test requirements needed for adequate assessment of the quality of incoming piece-parts.
• Analyze inspection, evaluation and test data. Feedback quality performance and follow-up on quality issues with suppliers.
• Active involvement in quality improvement program with suppliers.
• Lead in sourcing for substitute/ alternative materials to achieve cost savings, ensuring assurance of supply and / or improve quality of piece-parts.
• Assist manufacturing in evaluating material related issues to ensure correct disposition of non-conformance materials.
