Job summary

Agilent Technologies in Penang, Malaysia seeks a Materials Engineer to source engineering materials and oversee supplier quality for parts. The role focuses on improving supplier piece-parts quality, evaluating alternative materials, and ensuring supply and pricing competitiveness.

You will provide technical support for NPI and product transfer, assist manufacturing with material issues, and mentor less experienced engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechatronics, Electrical & Engineering, Materials Engineering Sciences with minimum 3-5 years related experience.
• Excellent communication skills and able to work with all levels.
• Flexible in switching roles, responsibility & new task when needed.
• A desire to work under aggressive deadlines, fast paced & collaborate environment.
• Resourcefulness, attention to details, demonstrate sound analysis skill and offering solutions.

Responsibilities

• Provides technical support in terms of specification interpretation, adequacy of existing documentation, disposition of non-conforming materials, and training on the usage of all inspection measuring equipment.
• Identifies and plans for inspection and test requirements needed for adequate assessment of the quality of incoming piece-parts.
• Analyzes inspection, evaluation and test data. Feedback quality performance and follow-up on quality issues with suppliers.
• Active involvement in quality improvement program with suppliers.
• Leads in sourcing for substitute/ alternative materials to achieve cost savings, ensuring assurance of supply and / or improve quality of piece-parts.
• Assists manufacturing in evaluating material related issues to ensure correct disposition of non-conformance materials.
