Job summary

CRCG (M) Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a Material Controller for a construction site in Sabah, Malaysia.

You will manage registration, receiving, inspection and storage of all incoming materials, and maintain accurate records of material usage and stock. Responsibilities include checking DOs/POs against specs, issuing materials to teams, performing stock counts, reporting shortages or excesses, and coordinating with procurement, subcontractors and site management.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in building construction projects.
• Mandarin-speaking is required to effectively communicate with Mandarin-speaking clients.
• Candidates with experience as Material Controller/Storekeeper are advantageous.
• Familiar with major construction materials and their basic applications on site.

Job description

Responsible for the registration, receiving, inspection, acceptance and storage of all incoming construction materials at the project site.

Maintain accurate records of all incoming and outgoing materials, including delivery quantities, dates, suppliers and relevant documentation.

Check incoming materials against Delivery Orders (DO), purchase orders, material specifications and approved requirements.

Manage the issuance and distribution of materials from site stores to relevant construction teams and subcontractors.

Maintain accurate records of material usage, issuance and remaining stock.

Conduct regular physical stock counts and inventory checks and reconcile physical quantities with material records.

Monitor site material inventory and report shortages, excess stock, damaged materials or abnormal consumption to the supervisor.

Coordinate and arrange the allocation and distribution of materials according to site construction requirements and work schedules.

Manage temporary / reusable construction materials, including formwork, scaffolding materials, props and other temporary materials.

Conduct regular counting, sorting, organizing and tracking of reusable materials, and arrange their return or removal from site when required.

Maintain proper records of the receipt, issuance, transfer, return and disposal of construction materials.

Ensure materials are properly stored, protected and organized to prevent damage, loss, deterioration or unnecessary wastage.

Coordinate with the Construction Team, Procurement Team, Subcontractors, Suppliers and Site Management regarding material requirements and delivery arrangements.

Report material-related issues, shortages and abnormal conditions to the relevant supervisor in a timely manner.

Prepare regular material inventory reports, material usage reports and other material-related records as required.

Provide regular work updates, summaries and reports to the supervisor and management.

Carry out other duties and responsibilities assigned by the supervisor or project management.

Job Requirements

High school education or above.

Mandarin-speaking is required to effectively communicate with Mandarin-speaking clients.

Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in building construction projects is preferred.

Candidates with experience working as a Material Controller, Material Clerk, Storekeeper or Site Material Coordinator will be an advantage.

Familiar with major construction materials, including reinforcement steel bars, concrete, sand, aggregates, concrete blocks, formwork, scaffolding and other temporary / reusable materials.

Able to correctly identify different types of construction materials and understand their basic applications and usage on site.

Basic understanding of material receiving, inspection, storage, issuance, inventory control and material records.

Good numerical and organizational skills, with the ability to maintain accurate material records.

Responsible, disciplined and honest, with a strong sense of responsibility for material control.

Able to follow instructions and complete assigned tasks efficiently and accurately.

Good coordination and communication skills with construction workers, subcontractors, suppliers and site personnel.

Able to work outdoors and in a construction site environment.

Willing to work overtime when required by project needs.

Candidates who are able to join immediately or within a short notice period will be preferred.

Preferred Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate should be responsible, reliable and detail-oriented, with good knowledge of construction materials and practical site experience.

The candidate should be able to independently manage material receiving, storage, issuance, inventory counting and reusable material tracking, while maintaining accurate records and providing timely updates to the supervisor.

Candidates with 1+ year of experience on building construction projects in Malaysia will be highly preferred.
