Job summary

Muer Pantas Sdn Bhd in Lumut, Malaysia, is seeking a Marine & Technical Manager to oversee marine and technical operations for the company fleet. You will lead maintenance planning, ensure safe and seaworthy vessels, and coordinate with masters, engineers, shipyards, and authorities.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Marine Engineering, Marine Operations, Naval Architecture, or related maritime field.
• Experience in marine/technical management, preferably with tankers.
• Strong knowledge of ship machinery, maintenance, dry-docking, Class and statutory requirements.
• Familiarity with IMO, ISM, Flag State, Class, and Marine Department requirements.

Marine & Technical Manager (Marine Industry)

• * Oversee the overall marine, technical, maintenance, and operational management of company vessels.
• * Ensure vessels are maintained in safe, seaworthy, and operational condition in accordance with company standards and applicable regulations.
• * Plan and monitor preventive and corrective maintenance, repairs, dry‑docking, and major overhauls.
• * Coordinate with vessel Masters, Chief Engineers, shipyards, contractors, Class, Flag State, Marine Department, and other authorities.
• * Ensure compliance with Class, Flag State, IMO, ISM, ISPS, MLC, and other applicable statutory requirements.
• * Monitor vessel certificates, surveys, inspections, audits, and statutory/Class requirements.
• * Prepare and monitor annual maintenance plans, docking plans, technical budgets, and procurement requirements.
• * Review technical quotations, specifications, purchase requisitions, and repair proposals to ensure cost‑effective solutions.
• * Monitor vessel performance, fuel consumption, machinery condition, defects, and maintenance records.
• * Provide technical support and troubleshooting for main engines, generators, pumps, electrical systems, deck machinery, and other vessel equipment.
• * Manage and follow up on breakdowns, defects, incident investigations, and corrective/preventive actions.
• * Ensure adequate availability of critical spares, stores, tools, safety equipment, and technical consumables.
• * Monitor and manage marine insurance matters, including H&M and P&I, where applicable.
• * Ensure proper documentation, reporting, and maintenance records are maintained.
• * Promote a strong safety, environmental, and compliance culture onboard and ashore.

Job Requirements

• * Diploma/Degree in Marine Engineering, Marine Operations, Naval Architecture, or a related maritime field.
• * Relevant experience in marine/technical management, preferably with tankers.
• * Strong knowledge of ship machinery, maintenance, dry‑docking, Class and statutory requirements.
• * Familiarity with IMO, ISM, Flag State, Class, and Marine Department requirements.
• * Experience in vessel maintenance planning, budgeting, procurement, and contractor/shipyard management.
• * Good technical troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
• * Strong communication and coordination skills with vessel crew, contractors, authorities, and management.
• * Able to work independently, manage multiple vessels/projects, and meet deadlines.
• * Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia, both written and spoken.
• * Computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Office and maintenance/reporting systems.
• * Willing to travel and attend vessels, shipyards, ports, and inspections when required.

Preferred

• * STCW / Marine Engineering Certificate of Competency (CoC) or relevant maritime qualification.
• * Experience working with Class/Flag/Marine Department surveys and audits.
