Job summary

GAMUDA is seeking an experienced engineer in Penang to lead development concepts, review drawings, and optimize design. You will oversee consultant procurement, monitor progress, and ensure projects meet schedule, budget, and quality targets.

The role requires hands-on involvement in civil/architectural development design with strong knowledge of M&E design requirements and local authorities. Based in Penang, this position demands leadership and a commitment to safety and environmental standards.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture required.
• Based in Penang, Malaysia.
• Experience with development design projects is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Shortlist consulting engineers and evaluate proposals.
• Plan, organize, coordinate and monitor activities to meet schedules.
• Review development concept with engineers and ensure design optimization.
• Ensure drawings review and design optimization objectives are achieved.
• Monitor contractors to ensure timely completion within budget and quality.

• Responsible for all engineering related development concept, drawings’ review and design optimization.
• Responsible for the engineering consultant’s procurement and evaluating their performance.

Key Responsibilities

• To shortlist the consulting engineers of the particular discipline to be invited to submit their services, financial proposal and to recommend the consulting engineers for engagement.
• To plan, organize, coordinate and monitor all activities to ensure schedules are met and in accordance to the Master Implementation Programme.
• To review the development’s engineering concept with respective engineers.
• To ensure drawings review and design optimization objectives are achieved.
• To ensure construction work are completed within their contract value and to reduce the occurrence of variation orders entailing additional cost.
• To demonstrate leadership and commitment for the overall implementation of the quality and environmental management system in the department / project.
• Monitoring contractors’ progress to ensure project will be completed on time within budget and with quality.
• Ensure applicable environmental responsibilities or authorities for relevant roles within its department are assigned, communicated and maintained as documented information.
• Take ownership for departmental processes and ensuring relevant environmental procedure and record are retained/ updated and conforms to the ISO 14001 requirement.
• To comply with applicable legal and other requirements.
• To take responsibility to protect the environment and prevent pollution.
• To comply and adhere to all matters pertaining to Quality, Safety & Health and Environment related to the job scope and work place as required by the Company.
• Any other duties that will be assigned from time to time by the Management.

Qualifications

• Degree in Bachelor of Civil Engineering/ Architecture or equivalent.
• To be based in Penang.

Expected Minimum Years of Experience

• 8 - 10 years of experience is needed.
