Job summary

Safeguards Corporation Sdn Bhd is seeking a Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Manager to lead planning, organization and implementation of HSE programs across the organization. The role requires professional competence and strong managerial skills to raise employee awareness on health and safety matters.

The ideal candidate has a Diploma and Green Book with DOSH, 5–8 years in related field, and excellent English communication.

Qualifications

• Possess at least a Diploma in any related field and a Green Book holder registered with DOSH.
• At least 5~8 year(s) of working experience in related field is required for this field.
• Able to work as well as teams’ activities, document in a concise manner.
• Able to present solution in written and oral reports.
• Possess an excellent spoken and written English with high initiatives and positive attitude.
• Pleasant attitude and personality and able to work independently with minimum supervision.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation and facilitation skills.

Responsibilities

• Advises management on government regulation relating to health and safety, and recommends necessary action to attain compliance.
• Identify and monitor existing and potential health, safety and environmental concerns and recommends priorities for resolution.
• Identifies common safety/health hazards inherent in the organization’s operations and establishes guidelines for protection from the hazards.
• Establish audits programs for compliance with company standards, government regulations and adequacy relative to local conditions.
• Coordinates necessary resources to implements programs.
• Maintains relationship with regulatory and government agency personnel.
• Monitors periodic HSE performance reports for trends and conditions and alert line management to problems.
• Investigate major accidents or problems areas and recommends future preventive measures.
• Being up to date with new legislation and maintaining a working knowledge of all Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the industry.
• Develops HSE training programs.

Purpose of the role

Develops and directs and coordinates planning, organization and implementation of environmental health and safety programs to assure that management takes the actions needed to raise employee awareness regarding Employees Health Safety matters. This managerial position uses both permanent staff to address the problems of a segment of a large organization or all of a smaller one. It requires demonstrated competence as a professional as well as managerial skills.
