The Manager, Business Development is responsible for analyzing and evaluating business opportunities, prospecting for potential clients, and managing the end-to-end pitching and onboarding of new clients in line with business objectives to accelerate growth for DKSH's Business Unit in Malaysia. This role plays a critical part in expanding DKSH's client portfolio and driving sustainable commercial growth through strategic relationship-building, rigorous market analysis, and effective cross-functional collaboration.
- Identify, evaluate, and manage business opportunities and leads to build and sustain a robust Business Development (BD) pipeline that is aligned with financial goals and growth targets
- Manage market research, feasibility studies, and market scans, evaluating findings and preparing clear, structured information to support informed senior leadership decision-making
- Lead the end-to-end pitching process, including the preparation of business proposals, contract negotiations, and the provision of input on appropriate pricing and commercial terms
- Identify upselling opportunities across existing and prospective clients, including field activation services, to grow revenue and deepen client partnerships
- Manage the onboarding of new clients, driving cross-functional collaboration to ensure seamless integration with the commercial team and a positive client experience from the outset
- Drive and coordinate activities related to Business Development capability building and client data management to ensure accurate and up-to-date commercial intelligence
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify upselling opportunities, support deal negotiations, and drive the finalization of contracts
- Proactively establish and nurture relationships with potential clients to create and enhance long-term business development opportunities
- Drive learning and development within the Business Development function, championing DKSH values and building team capability to achieve shared goals
- Administrative duties and coordination tasks as required
- Degree in Business Studies or Marketing is preferred
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar industry with business development, sales, or marketing experience, with at least 2 to 3 years in a managerial capacity
- Proven business development experience applying Business Development principles within medium to large-sized companies in similar industries
- Strong business acumen with advanced analytical and business analysis skills
- Proven skills in market research, market audit, and competitive intelligence gathering
- Experience in client prospecting, project management, business intelligence, data analysis, and client relationship management
- Strong ability to manage multiple assignments and projects simultaneously with high attention to detail
- Excellent communication, negotiation, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a collaborative, team-oriented approach
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken; proficiency in spoken Mandarin is preferred
