Job summary

SAM Malaysia is seeking an Experienced CNC Maintenance Engineer with at least 5 years hands-on experience in maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing CNC milling, turning, grinding, and EDM systems. Proficient with FANUC and Siemens controllers, you will lead preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.

You'll support lean manufacturing, TPM, and continuous improvement, coordinate spare parts, document performance, and train operators.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Mechanical / Mechatronic Engineering and 2 years CNC workshop experience.
• Knowledge of CNC controllers such as Siemens, Fanuc, Heidenhain.
• Able to read mechanical drawings and electrical diagrams.
• Strong troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Experience with TPM/lean manufacturing is a plus.

Job description

Experienced CNC Maintenance Engineer with 5 years of hands‑on expertise in maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing CNC machines including milling, turning, grinding, and EDM systems.

Strong command of FANUC, Siemens, other major CNC controllers. Proven success in reducing downtime through effective preventive maintenance, root-cause analysis, calibration, and process improvements.

Skilled in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, with a strong focus on precision, safety, and equipment reliability.

A proactive team player who supports lean manufacturing, TPM, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Roles And Responsibilities :

1. Preventive Maintenance (PM)

Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules for CNC machines

Perform periodic lubrication, alignment checks, cleaning, and calibration.

Monitor machine performance and predict potential failures.

Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on CNC equipment.

Repair faulty components such as: Spindles /Servo motors /Ball screws /Tool changers /Control panels

Minimize machine downtime by responding quickly to breakdowns.

3. CNC Control Systems & Software

Maintain and troubleshoot CNC controllers: FANUC, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Haas, Mazak, etc.

Update/backup machine parameters and programs.

Calibrate control system settings when required.

Perform laser calibration, ball bar tests, and leveling to ensure machining accuracy.

Adjust backlash compensation, encoder values, tool offsets, etc.

5. Spare Parts & Inventory Management

Identify and manage critical spare parts.

Coordinate with suppliers for ordering and repairing specialized components.

6. Documentation & Reporting

Maintain accurate records for: SAM PRESICION (M) SDN BHD

Breakdown reports

Prepare maintenance performance reports for management.

7. Safety & Compliance

Ensure all CNC machines comply with safety standards.

Train operators on safe machine usage and basic troubleshooting.

Analyze repetitive breakdowns and implement long-term solutions.

Suggest upgrades or modifications to improve machine reliability and efficiency.

Support lean manufacturing and TPM (Total Productive Maintenance).

9. Coordination with Production

Work closely with production teams to schedule maintenance without affecting output.

Provide technical support for machine setup issues related to mechanical/electrical faults.

At least Diploma in Mechanical / Mechatronic Engineering

2 years related working experience in CNC machining workshop

Working exposure in CNC machines industry is an added advantage
