Job summary

Volvo Car Manufacturing Malaysia is seeking an IBL&FLOW engineer to own inbound material flows across car/mid-year programs and volume changes. You will drive feasibility studies, engineering, implementation, and handovers while coordinating PSC transformation strategies with cross-functional teams.

The role covers design of warehouses and kitting lines, IT strategy for warehouse logistics, and ongoing cost reductions to achieve Best in Class logistics. English is essential; Mandarin is a plus.

Qualifications

• Diploma/degree in relevant engineering or logistics field.
• Strong knowledge of supply chain processes and logistics operations.
• Ability to design information flows and cross-functional processes.

What you'll do

Summary Role

• The IBL&FLOW engineer has the overall responsibility during the lifetime of the process in scope of new car/MY programs, process/component projects and volume increase/decrease.
• Following activities are performed by the IBL&FLOW engineer: feasibility study, study phase, engineering, implementation and maintain. Instructions and handing-over procedures connected to the processes are driven.
• Driving the business cases and requesting fundings are performed by the connected PSC transformation strategy.
• Drive Driving PSC transformation strategy and connect with cross function team
• IBL&FLOW engineers can/will be connected to multiple tasks/roles
• Responsible for project & running packaging issue, In plant inbound, & In-plant kitting layout and flows all parts with minimal disruption to production lines and quality

Main Tasks

• Design and implementation of new inbound material flows with efficient systems that integrate workers, machines, materials, information, and energy to make a product or provide a service responsible.
• Design and implementation of material handling equipment incl. industrial vehicles, warehouse equipment and covers the process and equipment connected to the material/waste handling
• Responsible for all standard/unit times connected to the operations performed in the In-Plant-Logistic process. Close corporation with the operators dealing with creating balancing for the logistic operators. Example: GR/ Put away/ Replenish / Kitting / Sequencing/ downsizing & etc.
• Driving the financial needs and budget input towards the budget owner of mobile handling equipment (the local plants). Battery charging equipment and infrastructure connected to the needs of the mobile handling equipment is a part of this activity.
• Set-up of warehouses, kitting centers & line feeding in terms of the in-plant logistics interface
• Responsible for covering the end-user specifications/functionalities and owns the IT strategy in warehouse / plant logistics. Covers both soft- and hardware needs.
• Responsible for reducing logistic costs and improve the material flow lead time, based on total land cost to become Best in Class (BIC).
• Common development across car-/component plants, Common solutions which lead to common processes & Common standards and processes.
• Secure implementation of new IT functionality and work procedures.
• Secure documentation (OIS/WES/BMS) of flows and processes.
• Secure logistic layout. Logistic layout vision and management (maintenance etc.).
• Provide early input to upcoming projects. Participate in investigations.
• Define return flows including waste handling.
• Develop Internal Logistic Equipment and create clear maintenance process.

Competence & Qualification Requirements

• Minimum – Diploma/Degree in Automotive, Logistic Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing engineering, logistic or any relevant Engineering or Electrical field, with relevant experience.
• Knowledgeable in supply chain process and logistic Operations
• Know how in working & information flow designs.
• A high-performance leader and a team player, able to work across boundaries. And coach others
• Self-starter. Able to work independently with minimum supervision.
• A person's have mindset on Safety.
• Some practical experience and knowledge in manufacturing and production processes would be advantageous.
• Knowledge and competence in Lean Manufacturing System
• Good analytical and presentation skill
• Good command of written and spoken English. Able to speak, read and write in Mandarin will be advantage.
