Job summary

Logikontrol Sdn Bhd is seeking a dedicated supervisor to oversee lifting and hoisting activities at construction sites. You will ensure operations align with approved lifting plans, method statements, and risk assessments, and coordinate with crane operators, riggers, and signalmen.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily lifting and hoisting activities at the project site.
• Ensure lifting operations follow approved lifting plans, method statements and risk assessments.
• Coordinate with crane operators, riggers, signalmen, site supervisors and other lifting personnel.
• Ensure lifting operations are conducted only by competent and authorised personnel.
• Check that cranes, lifting equipment and accessories are suitable and within safe limits.
• Maintain records of inspections, certifications and related documentation.
• Provide briefings on lifting sequences, hazards and control measures before operations.
• Stop operations if unsafe conditions or deviations from the plan are observed.
• Collaborate with Safety personnel to investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.

Job description

To supervise and coordinate lifting and hoisting activities at the construction site, ensuring all lifting operations are properly planned, safely executed and carried out in accordance with approved lifting plans, method statements, risk assessments and applicable statutory requirements.

Key responsibilities:

Supervise and coordinate daily lifting and hoisting activities at the project site.

Ensure lifting operations are carried out in accordance with approved lifting plans, method statements and risk assessments.

Coordinate with crane operators, riggers, signalmen, site supervisors and other personnel involved in lifting operations.

Ensure lifting operations are conducted only by competent and authorised personnel.

Check that cranes, lifting equipment and lifting accessories are suitable for the intended lifting operation and within their safe working limits.

Ensure lifting accessories such as wire ropes, slings, shackles, hooks and other equipment are properly inspected and in good working condition before use.

Verify that lifting equipment and accessories have the required inspection, certification and documentation.

Ensure lifting areas, access routes and ground conditions are suitable and safe before commencement of lifting operations.

Establish and maintain appropriate exclusion zones and ensure unauthorised personnel are kept away from lifting areas.

Ensure proper communication and signalling between crane operators, riggers and signalmen during lifting operations.

Brief lifting personnel on the lifting sequence, hazards, control measures and specific requirements before lifting activities commence.

Monitor lifting operations and ensure compliance with the approved lifting plan and safe work procedures.

Stop lifting operations immediately if unsafe conditions, equipment defects, adverse weather or deviations from the approved lifting plan are identified.

Coordinate lifting activities with other construction activities to prevent conflicts and minimise site risks.

Monitor weather and site conditions that may affect the safety of lifting operations.

Report unsafe conditions, equipment defects, lifting incidents and near misses to the Site Agent / Construction Manager and Safety personnel.

Maintain proper records of lifting activities, inspections, equipment certification and related documentation.

Work closely with the Safety and Health Officer / Site Safety Supervisor on lifting-related safety matters.

Assist in investigating lifting incidents and implementing corrective and preventive actions.

Ensure good housekeeping and safe working conditions around lifting and hoisting areas.

Carry out other duties reasonably assigned by the Project Manager / Construction Manager.

Job Requirements:

Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Building, or a related discipline

Minimum 2 years of relevant construction site experience

Experience in supervising construction works, subcontractors and site workers

Able to read and understand construction drawings, specifications and method statements

Good knowledge of construction practices, site coordination and quality requirements

Good communication and coordination skills

Able to work independently and under pressure in a project site environment

Able to work independently and under pressure in a project site environment

Willing to work at project sites and travel when required
