Bridge Data Centres Malaysia Sdn Bhd seeks a Mid-Level Commercial Operations Counsel to provide day-to-day legal support for expanding data center operations. The role emphasizes government relations, regulatory monitoring, and core customer/commercial contracts across the project lifecycle.
You will draft and negotiate MSAs, SLAs, and data center-related agreements while coordinating with GR and external advisors; English fluency is required for cross-border collaboration.
We are seeking a proactive and commercial-minded Mid-Level Commercial Operations Counsel to provide day-to-day legal support for our expanding data center operations. This role focuses heavily on government relations, regional regulatory watch, and core customer/commercial contracts, while also handling general operational legal affairs across the project lifecycle.
Key responsibilities
Draft, review, and negotiate legal documentation involving government authorities, public utility providers (e.g., power, water, telecom grid connections), and strategic partners, including MOUs, LOIs, concession agreements, and development frameworks.
Collaborate closely with the Government Affairs (GR) team to prepare formal communications, regulatory submissions, policy responses, and official letters.
Provide legal support for site acquisition, land leasing, utility easements, and facility construction documentation.
Partner with internal M&A counsels and external legal advisors during due diligence, closing, and post-closing integration for new data center assets.
Work independently or with the support of local counsel in studying the requirements and preparing documentations on statutory licensing, environmental and zoning permits, safety approvals, and operational certifications required across all stages of data center development and operation.
Support ongoing compliance audits and maintain regulatory filing trackers.
Draft, review, and negotiate customer-facing agreements, including Master Services Agreements (MSAs), Service Level Agreements (SLAs), Data Center Colocation Contracts, and Order Forms.
Ensure contractual terms align with operational capabilities, risk mitigation standards, revenue recognition objectives, and dispute resolution mechanisms.
Monitor, research, and analyze regional and local regulatory developments impacting data center investment, energy consumption, telecommunications, environmental standards, and cross-border data transfer.
Translate regulatory changes into periodic or ad hoc internal knowhow broadcast, as well as actionable internal compliance advisories and operational risk assessments.
About you
Bachelor's degree or above in Law
4-6 years of relevant legal experience at law firm or as in-house counsel
Experience in data centers, telecommunications, infrastructure, or real estate development is preferred
Proven ability to independently draft and review legal documentation and commercial contracts
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively manage cross-departmental alignment and external stakeholders
Full professional fluency in English is required
