Bridge Data Centres Malaysia Sdn Bhd is seeking an Electrical Professional Engineer to lead the planning, concept development, detailed design, and delivery of high-voltage substations (275 kV down to 11 kV) for hyperscale data center campuses in Malaysia.
The role requires extensive experience in grid interconnection, protection philosophy, SCADA, and commissioning standards, and collaboration with utilities, EPCs, and internal stakeholders.
The role is responsible for the planning, concept development, detailed design, and delivery of 275 kV, 132 kV, 115 kV, 33 kV, and 11kV high-voltage substations supporting hyperscale data center developments. The role requires strong experience in grid interconnection, primary and secondary system design, control and protection philosophy, SCADA, and testing and commissioning standards, as well as close collaboration with utilities, consultants, EPC contractors, and internal stakeholders to deliver highly reliable, scalable, regulation-compliant power infrastructure, while meeting safety-in-design, cost efficiency, constructability, and speed-to-market objectives.
Develop and review concept, basic, and detailed designs for 275 kV / 115kV/ 132 kV / 33 kV / 11 kV substations in hyperscale data center campuses.
Define and review single line diagrams (SLD), protection philosophies, layout planning, and equipment ratings to meet worst-case operating and contingency scenarios (N+1, 2N where applicable).
Ensure designs are concurrently maintainable and support five-nines (99.999%) availability requirements.
Verify that electrical and thermal limits of conductors, transformers, busbars, and switchgear are never exceeded under normal or contingency conditions.
Review and validate designs for Power transformers, Earthing transformers and neutral grounding schemes, AIS and GIS HV switchgear, control and protection, and SCADA system.
Review and validate load flow and contingency, fault level, protection coordination, arc-flash, and underground cable temperature rise, earthing and lightning protection studies.
Define and review substation automation and SCADA architectures, including IEC 61850-based systems.
Lead and coordinate grid connection studies and applications with utilities.
Provide technical oversight during Main Equipment, EPC tendering, construction, testing, commissioning, and energization stages.
Attend site inspections, technical workshops, FATs, SATs and commissioning activities as required.
Electrical Professional Engineer with practicing certificate.
10+ years in design consultancy, utility or EPC environment.
Experience in electrical studies – load flow, short circuit, arc flash, Neher McGrath, load calculation, lightning protection, earthing, electrical system protection, electrical power monitoring system, building management system.
Proficient in English and Mandarin to liaise with stakeholders.
Proficient in AutoCAD, ETAP, SKM, CYME tool for design and drafting.
Travelling is required to oversee substation construction.
Willing to be travel based on project requirement.
Experience in hyper scale datacenter, micro-electronics or other critical infrastructure is preferred.
