Undertake teaching and postgraduate research supervision duties, together with the associated functions of preparation, assessment, moderation, and curriculum development.
Provide academic leadership in the design and delivery of high-quality teaching programmes.
Develop and maintain appropriate teaching and learning materials.
Prepare schemes of work and maintain relevant records to monitor student attendance, progress, achievement, and development.
Prepare lecture and teaching materials.
Upload and regularly update course content and teaching materials on the Online Learning Management System (LMS).
Develop and assign quizzes, assignments, tutorials, projects, tests, oral presentations, and other learning activities.
Provide academic and pastoral advice and support to students.
Be available for academic counselling and consultation.
Provide additional help and guidance to students who require academic support.
Demonstrate a high level of commitment to student engagement, individual development, and graduate success.
Supervise student projects, field trips, placements, and other relevant academic activities where appropriate.
Develop, administer, moderate, and mark examinations and other assessments.
Produce, collate, and moderate high-quality examination papers.
Develop and administer appropriate class tests, assignments, quizzes, and other assessments.
Invigilate class tests and final examinations and ensure a proper examination environment.
Ensure compliance with examination procedures and take appropriate measures to prevent academic dishonesty.
Participate in assessment-related meetings and moderation activities as required.
Contribute to the development, planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of high-quality curricula.
Participate in ongoing curriculum, syllabus, and course structure reviews through involvement in Subject Specialist Groups (SSG).
Participate in the development and implementation of innovative pedagogical approaches, including online learning and real-life industry projects.
Recommend and contribute to the development of new programmes based on market data, industry needs, and competitive intelligence.
Collaborate with the Faculty/Centre on academic and operational planning, including:
- Workload planning
- Timetabling
- Student retention programmes
- Institutional development activities
- Academic quality and compliance matters
Support the implementation of University policies, academic standards, quality assurance requirements, and applicable regulatory requirements.
The teaching workload will be assigned in accordance with the University's academic and operational requirements.
You will be assigned not more than 140 contact hours per 4-month block.
The Management reserves the right to revise the manner, location, and mode of the workload from time to time as deemed necessary.
In the event that the assigned workload exceeds 140 contact hours, additional contact hours will be remunerated accordingly in accordance with the University's applicable terms and conditions.
Conduct and contribute to research, scholarly activities, and consultancy projects in relevant academic and professional areas.
Publish quality peer-reviewed research outputs in accordance with the University's research expectations and Annual Research Plan.
Generate and secure intellectual property, including patents, where applicable.
Develop and maintain a research grant portfolio.
Work independently or collaboratively to formulate and submit research proposals to secure external research grants.
Develop collaborative links and research partnerships with external research teams, institutions, professional bodies, and industry partners in relevant areas and disciplines.
Participate in postgraduate research degree supervision and examination.
Participate in local and international conferences, seminars, and academic events as a presenter, panel member, organiser, or committee member.
Mentor early-stage researchers by sharing knowledge, expertise, research skills, and providing appropriate support to enhance their research profiles and activities.
Work collaboratively with the Sales & Marketing Department to support targeted student enrolment and recruitment activities.
Participate in and/or organise school talks, open days, programme previews, academic counselling sessions, and other student recruitment activities.
Contribute to institutional development and University-wide initiatives as required.
Collaborate with relevant Faculties, Centres, departments, and external stakeholders to support the University's strategic objectives.
Undertake management, administrative, and leadership responsibilities commensurate with the position.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Management from time to time.
PhD/Doctorate or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant academic discipline, or any other qualifications as required by MQA.
Good command of the English language, both written and spoken.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
Knowledge of other IT software and digital tools relevant to teaching and learning is an advantage.
Data analytical skills are an added advantage.
Strong teaching, presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Strong research and academic writing capabilities.
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, industry partners, and external stakeholders.
Good organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
