Job summary

IPK College in Penang invites applications for a Finance & Accounting Lecturer to deliver lectures across Finance, Accounting, Banking, Insurance and related areas, while contributing to curriculum development and assessment.

Candidates should hold a Master’s or Bachelor’s in Accounting & Finance with relevant higher-education teaching experience and professional qualifications such as ACCA/CPA/CIMA. Proficiency with Google Classroom and MS Office is preferred.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Accounting & Finance or BA in Accounting & Finance with 5 years senior management experience.
• Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CPA, CIMA, ICAEW, MICPA, CFA or other relevant recognised qualifications are advantageous.
• Strong knowledge across Finance, Accounting, Banking, Insurance or related disciplines.
• Experience teaching in higher education institutions will be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Deliver lectures, tutorials and other teaching and learning activities as assigned by the Programme Leader.
• Develop, review and enhance curriculum content to ensure relevance to current industry practices and requirements.
• Prepare teaching materials, lecture notes, exercises, case studies, projects and other academic resources.
• Prepare and maintain academic documents, including Instruction Plan, Reflective Log, Course Assessment Plan (CAP) and Table of Test Specification (TTS).
• Prepare examination questions, assignments, quizzes, case studies, practical assessments and other forms of student evaluation.
• Participate in examination administration, moderation, invigilation and marking processes.
• Monitor and maintain accurate records of students’ attendance, academic performance and academic progression.
• Provide academic advising, mentoring and appropriate academic support to students.
• Upload and maintain teaching materials, assessments and learning resources on Google Classroom and other designated learning platforms.
• Respond promptly to student and management communications through Google Chat and other official communication channels.
• Participate in student recruitment, admission, orientation and other academic-related activities.
• Attend staff meetings, professional development programmes, training sessions and College events.
• Contribute to programme review, MQA compliance, quality assurance activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Participate in industry engagement activities, academic projects and curriculum enhancement initiatives.
• Maintain proper academic records and documentation in accordance with College policies and quality management requirements.
• Perform other academic and administrative duties as assigned by the Programme Leader and Management from time to time.

Job description

IPK College is seeking a dedicated, passionate and suitably qualified Finance & Accounting Lecturer to join our academic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching in Finance, Accounting, Banking, Insurance and related areas, while contributing to curriculum development, assessment, student development and continuous academic improvement.

The ideal candidate should possess strong knowledge and expertise in Finance, Accounting, Banking, Insurance or related disciplines and be able to deliver subjects according to their academic qualifications, area of specialisation and/or relevant industry experience, in compliance with applicable MQA requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver lectures, tutorials and other teaching and learning activities as assigned by the Programme Leader.

Requirements

Academic Qualifications –

Candidates should fulfil the relevant academic requirements for appointment as academic staff for the programme:

A Master’s Degree in Accounting & Finance

OR

Bachelor’s Degree in A Accounting & Finance or an equivalent chartered/professional qualification with At least five (5) years of relevant working experience at senior management level may also be considered for appointment as academic staff or co-supervisor, subject to the applicable requirements and approval.

Strong analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills.

Good communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant accounting, financial or educational software will be an advantage.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an academic environment.

Candidates must be able to teach subjects within their area of academic expertise, professional qualification and/or relevant industry experience.
