Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support chefs in food preparation and maintain a clean, organized kitchen in compliance with food safety standards.

You will stock ingredients, manage inventory, and operate kitchen equipment safely, while following supervisors' directions and adhering to health and safety policies. This role is onsite in Malaysia.

Qualifications

• Assist chefs and kitchen staff in ingredient preparation and portioning.
• Maintain clean and organized work stations following food safety standards.
• Stock and replenish kitchen inventory, monitor freshness and rotation.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and in accordance with procedures.
• Support dishwashing and ware management to meet health codes.
• Follow instructions from supervisors and adapt to new tasks.
• Adhere to company policies on food safety, sanitation and conduct.

Responsibilities

• Assist chefs and kitchen staff in the preparation of ingredients, including washing, chopping, peeling, and portioning.
• Maintain a clean and organized work station, ensuring all surfaces, utensils, and equipment are sanitized according to food safety standards.
• Stock and replenish inventory for the kitchen, including receiving deliveries, checking for quality, and storing items properly.
• Support with basic cooking tasks under supervision, such as boiling, frying, or grilling simple food items.
• Dispose of waste and recyclables in designated areas, adhering to company and local environmental regulations.
• Wash dishes, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment, ensuring they are clean and ready for reuse.
• Follow all food safety and hygiene protocols, including proper handwashing and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
