Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a diligent kitchen assistant to support daily food preparation and cooking activities, following recipes and portion standards to ensure consistency.

You will prepare ingredients, maintain cleanliness, assist with plating, stock management, and help the team during busy service periods, while upholding food safety practices.

This role emphasizes teamwork, reliability, and attention to detail as you help the Head Chef and Sous Chef maintain high standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist the kitchen team with daily food preparation and cooking activities.
• Prepare ingredients such as vegetables, seafood, meat, sauces, and garnishes according to kitchen requirements.
• Wash, peel, cut, portion, and organize ingredients properly.
• Follow recipes, preparation methods, and portion standards consistently.
• Assist chefs with cooking, plating, and food presentation.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of kitchen areas, equipment, utensils, and workstations.
• Follow proper food safety, sanitation, and personal hygiene practices.
• Store ingredients correctly and ensure proper labeling and rotation of stock.
• Check the quality and freshness of ingredients before use.
• Assist with receiving, unpacking, and organizing kitchen supplies.
• Minimize food wastage and use ingredients efficiently.
• Wash and sanitize dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment when required.
• Support the kitchen team during busy service periods.
• Follow instructions from the Head Chef, Sous Chef, or Kitchen Supervisor.
• Ensure food preparation areas are properly stocked and ready for service.
• Report damaged equipment, low stock, or food-quality issues to the supervisor.
• Assist with end-of-day kitchen cleaning and closing duties.
• Maintain a positive, cooperative, and professional attitude with the kitchen team.
• Follow all company policies, kitchen procedures, and safety regulations.
• Perform other kitchen-related duties as assigned by management.
