Job summary

Cape EMS Berhad in Malaysia is seeking an IT Officer / IT Executive to manage the organisation's IT infrastructure and operations, ensuring technology supports business goals and drives digital transformation.

You will provide technical guidance, support across systems, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams on development, data handling, SQL queries, and maintenance to keep services reliable and secure.

Qualifications

• At least a bachelor’s degree in IT/CS or related field.
• 1–2 years of relevant IT experience is an advantage.
• Solid knowledge of IT procedures and problem-solving.
• VB.net and ASP.net development skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Proactively monitor production systems and dashboards.
• Collaborate with analysts on development requirements and data handling.
• Provide first-level support for network, software, and hardware issues.
• Design, develop and maintain software applications.
• Develop and maintain SQL queries and database components.
• Maintain existing applications and provide ongoing updates.

Job description

The IT Officer / IT Executive oversees all aspects of the organization's information technology infrastructure and operations, ensuring alignment with business objectives. This role provides strategic guidance and recommendations as a technical personnel, playing a pivotal role in driving digital transformation and leveraging technology to enhance organizational performance and competitiveness.

Key responsibilities

• Proactively monitor production systems including system performance, scheduled jobs, dashboards and reporting
• Work closely with client analysts on development requirements and data handling
• Respond, diagnose and resolve interface-related issues promptly to minimize downtime
• Collaborate with inter-teams to resolve cross-functional issues
• Provide first-level support in the production line including network, software, hardware and peripherals
• Design, develop and implement software applications using programming languages supported by System Development
• Write, modify and debug code to ensure it meets performance and functionality requirements
• Develop and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures and other database components
• Provide ongoing maintenance, support and updates to existing applications, websites and systems
• Provide first-level technical support to employees via phone, email, or in person for office-related or hardware issues

About you

• At least Professional Certificate or bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related IT field
• 1-2 years of experience in related field is an advantage
• Solid knowledge of IT technical procedures
• Able to understand and provide solutions on IT-related issues and matters
• Skill in VB.net and ASP.net for web and application development required
• Experience in SQL is a plus
• Active listening skills, leadership skills, and time management skills
• Ability to analyze complex situations, identify challenges, and devise practical solutions through critical thinking and creativity
• Able to accept criticism and work well under pressure
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail, self-starter who shows initiative
