Job summary

Rapid Manufacturing Connectivity Sdn Bhd in Kulim, Malaysia is seeking an IT Helpdesk Engineer to be the first point of contact for IT support. You will assist users, set up hardware and software, troubleshoot issues, and manage tickets across the business.

You will support onboarding, maintain user accounts via Active Directory and Microsoft 365, document processes, and contribute to IT operations. The role requires 1–3+ years in desktop support and a degree in IT or CS.

Qualifications

  • 1 to 3+ years of desktop support or helpdesk experience.
  • Experience supporting Windows 10/11 and Linux.
  • Strong troubleshooting and customer-service mindset.
  • Bachelor's degree in IT/CS.
  • Able to work after-office hours if required.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, servers, network devices, and related hardware/software.

  • Track and update IT support requests per SLAs and escalate when needed.
  • Maintain technical documentation and IT asset records.
  • Provide after-office hours, weekend, or public holiday support when required.

Job description

Excellent opportunity for a dynamic person to join a cable manufacturing company as an IT Helpdesk Engineer in Kulim, Malaysia. The role will serve as the primary point of contact for IT support, covering user assistance, hardware and software setup, troubleshooting, account management, ticketing, documentation, and support for IT operations across the business.

Key responsibilities

  • Act as the primary point of contact for technical inquiries received via ticketing system, walk-ins, email, or phone.
  • Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, servers, network devices, and related hardware/software.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues related to Windows/Linux operating systems, business applications, connectivity, networking, servers, and end-user devices.
  • Support employee onboarding and offboarding activities, including provisioning, deactivating, and maintaining user accounts and access rights through Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and other relevant systems.
  • Manage, track, and update support requests in accordance with standard service level agreements (SLAs) and elevate complex issues to senior IT team members when required.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, asset inventory, IT records, and management reports.
  • Provide after-office hours, weekend, or public holiday support when required by business operations.

About you

  • 1 to 3+ years of experience in desktop support, IT service desk, helpdesk support, or a similar technical support role.
  • Hands‑on experience supporting Windows 10/11, Linux, Microsoft 365, basic networking, user account management, and end‑user hardware/software troubleshooting.
  • Proficient in Windows 10/11, Linux, Microsoft 365 administration, and basic networking fundamentals such as IP, DNS, VPN, and Wi‑Fi.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory, account provisioning/deactivation, access rights management, and basic IT asset management.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem‑solving skills with the ability to resolve issues independently.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with a customer‑service oriented mindset.
  • Able to manage support tickets, prioritize tasks, follow SLAs, and elevate issues appropriately.
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Able to work independently and support after office hours, weekends, or public holidays when required.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or operational environment will be an added advantage.
