Job summary

Jora Malaysia seeks an Operations Engineering Consultant specialized in high-speed interconnects, fibre optics, for our Penang site. The role requires 8–10 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.

You will lead manufacturing support, drive APQP-like processes, and coordinate with suppliers to ensure uptime and product quality. The ideal candidate has deep knowledge of cable and connector manufacturing, high-speed networking, and NPQ/DFM activities,

Qualifications

• Experience: 8–10 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Interconnect Expertise: In-depth knowledge of cable and connector manufacturing processes, high-speed cable connectivity, and fiber optic technology.
• Quality Management: Proven experience with APQP, FMEA, PPAP, and conducting regular process audits.
• Problem Solving: Expertise in driving failure analysis and corrective actions via 8D response methodology.
• Scope: Driving DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and NPQ for high-speed networking applications.

Responsibilities

• Directs activities to support all manufacturing operations equipment availability (uptime).
• Supports customer test processes and identifies yield improvements.
• Manages new product test development and implementation into manufacturing.
• May lead a group of engineers on multiple related projects.
• Tracks execution of projects under development.
• Provides technical input to meet project goals or customer requirements.
• Addresses customer/manufacturing issues with high priority.

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

• Directs activities to support all manufacturing operations equipment availability (uptime), preventative maintenance ofequipment, scheduling of technician training, project planning and implementation, scheduling of equipmentinstallation, purchasing of spare parts and supplies for area related needs.
• Supports and manages customer test process sustaining effort including incorporation of engineering changes andidentifying yield improvements efforts.
• Manages activities pertaining to new product test development and implementation into manufacturing.
• May manage a group of engineers with the responsibility for the completion of multiple related projects encompassingseveral different areas (i.e. Quality, Manufacturing, Supplier, etc.).
• Tracks the execution of the projects under development.
• Assists upper management and business development teams by providing technical input and direction to assist inmeeting the project goals or customer requirements.
• Ensures that any customer or manufacturing issues related to existing products are addressed with high priority.
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of the design process for systems and printed circuit boards, subassemblies,or other related company products.
• In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment used for systems and printed circuit boards andsubassemblies.
• In-depth knowledge of industry and quality standards and SPC methodologies.
• In-depth knowledge of materials and components used in the construction of systems and printed circuit boards andsubassemblies.
• In-depth knowledge of material science, robotics, machine programming.
• In-depth knowledge of product pricing, contracts and contract negotiations.
• In-depth knowledge of design engineering (e.g., analog circuit design, digital circuit design, digital integrated circuitdesign, etc.) for systems and printed circuit boards.
• In-depth knowledge of IT platforms, database design and programming languages.
• In-depth knowledge of manufacturing and SCM/Logistics information processes.
• Excellent customer contact, negotiation and problem resolution skills.
• Excellent project management, presentation, database management and computer skills.
• Strong knowledge of statistical process control methods and techniques.
• Ability to design tests, evaluate results and recommend solutions to improve the processes associated with SMT andoptical manufacturing.
• Ability to evaluate, diagnose and troubleshoot problems.
• Strong knowledge of IT platforms, database design and programming languages.
• Strong knowledge of some or all of the following: UNIX, NT, database management system.
• Ability to evaluate materials, gather and analyze data and determine root cause of problems.
• Ability to simultaneously manage several projects and coordinate multiple, changing deadlines.
• Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of internal and external customers.
• Ability to effectively organize, manage and motivate team members from a wide variety of departments and with adiverse group of skill sets.
