Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or related field.
• Proven interior design experience with a robust project portfolio across residential, commercial or hospitality sectors.
• Proficiency in design software: AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite and 3D visualization tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop creative interior design concepts and solutions aligned with client briefs and project requirements.
• Create detailed drawings, floor plans, elevations, and 3D visualizations using industry-standard software.
• Conduct site visits and measurements to gather project information.
• Present design proposals and incorporate client feedback into final designs.
• Source materials, finishes, furniture and lighting within budget constraints.
• Prepare design specifications, material schedules and cost estimates.
• Liaise with contractors and suppliers to ensure design implementation.
• Monitor projects during execution to maintain design integrity and quality.
• Stay updated with current design trends, materials and technologies.

We are seeking a talented and creative Interior Designer to join MJ Creative SDN. BHD. in Bukit Mertajam, Penang. This is a full-time position that offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse interior design projects, from concept development through to final implementation. As an Interior Designer, you will play a crucial role in transforming spaces into functional and aesthetically pleasing environments that meet our clients' needs and exceed their expectations. You will be at the heart of our creative process, collaborating with clients, architects, and contractors to bring innovative design solutions to life.

Key responsibilities

• Develop creative interior design concepts and design solutions that align with client briefs and project requirements
• Create detailed design drawings, floor plans, elevations, and 3D visualisations using industry-standard software
• Conduct site visits and measurements to assess spaces and gather project information
• Present design proposals to clients and incorporate feedback into final designs
• Source and select appropriate materials, finishes, furniture, and lighting fixtures within budget constraints
• Prepare design specifications, material schedules, and cost estimates for projects
• Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and project teams to ensure design specifications are correctly implemented
• Monitor projects during execution to maintain design integrity and quality standards
• Stay updated with current design trends, materials, and technologies in the interior design industry
• Collaborate with other team members on multidisciplinary projects as required

What we’re looking for

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or a related field
• Proven experience as an Interior Designer, with a portfolio demonstrating completed projects across residential, commercial, or hospitality sectors
• Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and 3D visualisation tools
• Strong knowledge of interior design principles, colour theory, spatial planning, and building codes
• Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively convey design concepts to clients and stakeholders
• Ability to work collaboratively with architects, engineers, and contractors in a team environment
• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
• Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality design work
• Understanding of budgeting and cost management in design projects
• Knowledge of sustainable design practices and environmentally conscious material selection is advantageous
