Job summary

Ayu Borneo Family Wellness Centre in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur invites an Interior Designer to transform client goals into functional spaces. You will develop interior concepts, prepare detailed plans, and coordinate with contractors to meet client requirements, budget, and timeline.

The role involves collaborating with architects, engineers, and suppliers, presenting sketches and mood boards, and ensuring designs comply with codes and quality standards while staying current with trends.

Qualifications

• Minimum Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design or related field.
• Coursework or experience in CAD is highly preferred.
• Interior Design certification is an added advantage.
• At least 1 year of relevant working experience.
• Mandarin-speaking ability is an added advantage.
• Strong sense of style and ability to create aesthetically pleasing interiors.
• Strong visual design skills in proportion, colour, layout, and aesthetics.
• Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving and organisational skills.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Understand client goals, requirements, preferences, and budget for the space.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, painters, contractors, and builders to ensure functional design.
• Analyze space layout and usage patterns.
• Prepare sketches, mood boards, layouts, and design concepts.
• Consult with clients on materials, furnishings, fixtures, colours and décor.
• Use design software to develop detailed interior plans.
• Prepare project timelines and cost estimates.
• Source and order materials within approved budgets and specifications.
• Coordinate and oversee installation of furniture and design elements.
• Conduct site visits to ensure design and quality standards.
• Address client concerns promptly.
• Stay updated with latest interior design trends and techniques.

We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented Interior Designer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing interior concepts, preparing design plans, coordinating with relevant parties, and ensuring projects are completed according to the client’s requirements, budget, and timeline.

Requirements

• Minimum Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design or a related field.
• Coursework or experience in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) is highly preferred.
• Interior Design certification is an added advantage.
• At least 1 year of relevant working experience.
• Mandarin-speaking ability is an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with architects, engineers, painters, contractors, and builders to ensure the interior design is functional and practical.
• Analyze the movement, layout, and usage patterns of the space.
• Prepare sketches, mood boards, layouts, and other visual aids to present preliminary design concepts.
• Consult with clients/employers on the selection of materials, furnishings, fixtures, colors, and décor.
• Use design software to develop and present detailed interior design plans.
• Prepare project timelines and cost estimates in accordance with project requirements.
• Source and order required materials while ensuring compliance with approved budgets and specifications.
• Coordinate and oversee the installation of furniture, materials, fixtures, and other design elements.
• Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure the completed project meets the agreed design and quality standards.
• Address and resolve client concerns, complaints, or design-related issues promptly.
• Keep up to date with the latest interior design trends, materials, techniques, and industry developments.
• Perform any other related duties as assigned by the management.
