Job summary

HOMA ENGINEERING (M) SDN BHD is seeking a talented Interior Designer to join its Kuala Lumpur team on a full-time basis. You will conceptualise, design, and deliver interior solutions for commercial and residential projects, collaborating with architects, engineers, and clients to turn spaces into inspiring environments.

The role requires 2–3 years of experience, proficiency in AutoCAD/SketchUp/Adobe Creative Suite, and strong presentation skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or diploma in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field.
• 2–3 years of interior design experience in a professional setting.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and 3D visualization tools.
• Strong understanding of spatial planning, color theory, materials, lighting, and interior design principles.
• Excellent sketching and presentation abilities; effective client communication.
• Knowledge of Malaysian building codes and standards.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills within multidisciplinary teams.
• Professional certification or membership in relevant bodies is advantageous.

Responsibilities

About the role

We are seeking a talented Interior Designer to join our creative team on a full-time basis in Kuala Lumpur City Centre, Kuala Lumpur. In this role, you will be responsible for conceptualising, designing, and delivering exceptional interior design solutions for a diverse range of commercial and residential projects. You will work collaboratively with architects, engineers, and clients to transform spaces into inspiring environments that meet both functional requirements and aesthetic aspirations. This is a key position within our design team, where your creativity and technical expertise will directly contribute to the success of our projects and the growth of our practice.

Key responsibilities

• Develop creative interior design concepts and spatial layouts that align with client briefs, project objectives, and budget constraints
• Produce detailed design drawings, specifications, and technical documentation using industry-standard software and design tools
• Present design proposals to clients, incorporating feedback and refining designs through multiple iterations
• Conduct site surveys and analyse existing spaces to inform design decisions and ensure practical implementation
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and external contractors to ensure seamless project coordination and execution
• Source and select appropriate materials, finishes, furniture, and fixtures that meet design intent and quality standards
• Manage project timelines and budgets whilst maintaining design quality and client expectations
• Prepare specifications, mood boards, 3D visualisations, and presentation materials for client communication
• Ensure designs comply with relevant building codes, safety regulations, and accessibility standards
• Maintain detailed project documentation and contribute to the development of design standards within the practice
• Able to communicate with Mandarin, Malay and English.

What we're looking for

• A degree or diploma in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related design discipline from an accredited institution
• Proven experience of at least 2–3 years working as an Interior Designer in a professional design practice or consultancy
• Proficiency in design software including AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and 3D visualisation tools such as 3ds Max, Lumion, or V-Ray
• Strong understanding of spatial planning, colour theory, materials, lighting design, and interior design principles
• Excellent sketching and freehand drawing skills, demonstrating visual communication abilities
• Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and standards relevant to interior design in Malaysia
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously whilst maintaining attention to detail and design quality
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts effectively to clients and stakeholders
• Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment
• Creative problem-solving capabilities and a passion for innovative design solutions
• Professional certification or membership with relevant interior design or architectural bodies is advantageous
