Industrial Automation Engineer / Assistant Manager

Fitson provides a full scope of services which encompasses the initial stages of design conceptualisation, tool design & fabrication, product innovation, manufacturing to complete packaging and delivery.

What do you need do in this role:

Develop, design and implement industrial automation solutions to improve manufacturing processes, productivity and operational efficiency

Identify automation opportunities and propose practical solutions to reduce manual processes, production downtime and operating costs

Evaluate and recommend suitable automation technologies, equipment and systems based on production requirements

Integrate and troubleshoot automated machines, robotics, PLC, HMI, sensors, servo systems, and machine vision systems

Develop, modify and optimize PLC/HMI programs and automation control systems

Coordinate with machine suppliers, system integrators and internal departments for automation projects, installation, commissioning and testing

Analyze production processes and identify opportunities for automation, manpower optimization, cycle‑time reduction and productivity improvement

Support and drive the implementation of Smart Manufacturing and Industry 4.0 initiatives, including machine connectivity, production data collection, monitoring and process automation

Explore and implement technologies such as IoT, machine data acquisition, digital monitoring, real‑time dashboards and automated reporting where applicable

Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency, product quality, equipment reliability and process consistency

Lead or support automation projects from initial concept, feasibility study and budgeting through development, installation, commissioning and handover

Prepare project proposals, specifications, timelines, cost estimates and performance evaluations

What do you need to have to be successful in this role:

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Automation Engineering, Control Engineering, or a related engineering

2–5 years' working experience in industrial automation, manufacturing engineering, controls, or a related field

Experience in leading or coordinating automation improvement projects and working with machine/system integrators and external vendors

Good analytical, problem‑solving, communication and project management skills

Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia, both written and spoken
