RIGOL Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd. seeks an Industrial Automation Technical Specialist to drive factory automation, Smart Factory initiatives, and continuous improvement across manufacturing processes.
You’ll support electrical/control systems, robotics, machine vision, and AI applications while collaborating with cross-functional teams. The role covers project design, installation, commissioning, data analytics with Power BI, and Lean practices.
The Industrial Automation Technical Specialist is responsible for supporting factory automation, Smart Factory, and Industrial Engineering initiatives to improve manufacturing productivity, operational efficiency, quality, and material flow. This role provides technical support for automation equipment, electrical control systems, robotics, machine vision, AI applications, and digitalization projects while driving continuous improvement across the factory.
Assist engineers in automation solution design, cost estimation, feasibility studies, and risk assessment.
Support the implementation of automation projects involving AGV/AMR, industrial robots, conveyors, machine vision, and semi/full automation systems.
Participate in equipment installation, FAT, SAT, commissioning, validation, and production handover.
Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of automation equipment to maximize equipment reliability and OEE.
Support electrical component selection, BOM preparation, and electrical design.
Prepare electrical drawings using EPLAN, AutoCAD, or equivalent software.
Perform control panel assembly, wiring, machine installation, testing, and commissioning.
Assist in PLC programming, HMI configuration, industrial communication, and machine debugging using Mitsubishi, Siemens, Schneider, Inovance, or equivalent PLC platforms.
Assist in automation equipment assembly and integration of industrial robots (4-axis & 6-axis) and machine vision systems.
Support robot programming, vision system commissioning, and production deployment.
Support the implementation of AI applications in manufacturing, including intelligent inspection, predictive analytics, and process optimization.
Support system integration between AGV, WMS, MES, ERP, RCS, and other manufacturing systems.
Assist in Time Study, Motion Study, Line Balancing, Capacity Analysis, Layout Optimization, and Material Flow Improvement.
Identify automation opportunities to improve SMT, Assembly, Testing, and Warehouse operations.
Develop Power BI dashboards and support Smart Factory and digital manufacturing initiatives.
Participate in Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, productivity improvement, and cost reduction projects.
Support bottleneck analysis, feasibility studies, and ROI evaluations.
Drive waste elimination and operational efficiency improvements through Industrial Engineering methodologies.
Prepare and maintain SOPs, Work Instructions, Preventive Maintenance Manuals, PFMEA, Control Plans, electrical drawings, and technical documentation.
Provide technical support and training to production personnel on equipment operation, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance to improve productivity and equipment reliability.
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related engineering disciplines.
Minimum 1 year of experience in factory automation, Industrial Engineering, manufacturing engineering, or non-standard automation equipment.
Outstanding fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
Experience in Electronics Manufacturing (EMS) is an advantage.
Strong analytical, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Good communication and teamwork.
Self-motivated with strong learning ability.
Able to work independently and under pressure.
Willing to travel overseas for short-term assignments when required.
Experience with industrial robots, machine vision, AGV/AMR, Smart Factory, AI, Lean Manufacturing, or Kaizen projects.
Experience with non-standard automation equipment development and system integration.
Knowledge of SMT, Assembly, and Test manufacturing processes.
