Senior Automation Engineer located in Batu Kawan, Penang.

Responsible for specifying, designing and maintaining automation equipment, tooling and applications as required to meet specifications.

What a typical day looks like:

• Design, engineer, and modify existing and new moderately complex automation equipment, tooling, and applications to automate manufacturing processes.
• Establish technical manuals, drawings, models, training documentation, preventative maintenance plans and troubleshooting guides for automated equipment and processes.
• Understand the machine operating standards, sequence of wear and tear parts and product defects.
• Ensure the uptime of machines through regular preventive maintenance and breakdown maintenance.
• Be willing to learn and enhance skills in all types of automation equipment.
• Prepare why‑why evaluation and drive permanent corrective actions.
• Give feedback to improve the design of process and equipment.
• Direct daily department activities to maximize equipment utilization and support production needs.
• Coordinate maintenance activities with other functional groups such as engineering and operations to ensure efficient operation.
• Collaborate and offer input to planning, building, and maintaining the automation framework and associated processes for new products.
• Identify and drive change to ensure automation effectiveness of existing processes.
• Demonstrate and thoroughly understand customer requirements, offer suggestions and ideas on how best to deliver automation solutions.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or a similar field.
• At least 5 years of experience in automation engineering in the high‑technology electronics industry or related area.
• Experience in mechatronics design (implementing robots/cobots, etc.).
• Experience in automated control (PLC programming, etc.).
• Experience developing devices that include automatic camera recognition.
• Circuit design skills for equipment.
