Job summary

MOON PALACE GROUP OF RESTAURANTS is seeking an experienced Assistant Human Resources Manager to oversee HR operations across multiple outlets in Kuala Lumpur. You will lead an HR team of four, manage payroll, recruitment, and relations, and ensure compliance with Malaysian regulations, while driving policy development and capacity-building initiatives.

The role emphasizes people leadership, effective communication, and strategic workforce planning to support fast-growing F&B outlets.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of HR experience with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory/management role.
• Strong knowledge of Malaysian Employment Act, payroll, statutory compliance, and IR.
• Experience leading an HR team in a multi-outlet environment is preferred.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Proficient in HRMS and payroll systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise HR team and outlet management teams to ensure smooth daily operations.
• Payroll, recruitment, employee relations, and HR administration responsibilities.
• Manage foreign worker permits, quotas, hostel management, and agency coordination.
• Handle complex disciplinary cases and investigations with proper employee relations practices.
• Ensure compliance with Employment Act, EPF, SOCSO, EIS, Income Tax, and Immigration regulations.
• Develop recruitment plans and talent acquisition strategies across all outlets.
• Provide reports, analyses, and recommendations for Management.
• Drive process improvements and system enhancements; develop and improve policies and SOPs.
• Develop manpower planning strategies to support business growth and plan engagement programs.

Who We Are We run six restaurants across KL and Puchong, and are expanding. Different menus, different dining experiences, one HQ team behind all of it. We're a lean 10 to 20 people team, average age 35, and we move fast. No layers of approval, no shadow roles. If you build something here, it goes live.

Are you the right fit?

You will be leading an HR team of 4 to manage an expanding F&B business.

You have strong regulatory fluency and operational HR experience, including foreign worker permit and quota management. You are comfortable leading tough conversations, and passionate about build policy that nurtures and retains talent.

You'll navigate between management priorities, outlet managers' operational pressure, and frontline staff's day-to-day concerns. You foster trust across kitchen, floor, and office, where people bring you a problem before it becomes a crisis. You understand each businesses’ unique processes, and adapt how you communicate based on who you're talking to.

Beyond daily operations, you'll spot key people who are ready for more responsibility and build the training and advancement paths to get them there. This role is as much about capacity building as managing staffing. Trilingual fluency (Mandarin, English, Malay) is essential; conversational Cantonese is a strong bonus.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of HR experience with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or management role.
• Strong knowledge of Malaysian Employment Act, payroll, statutory compliance, and Industrial Relations.
• Experience leading an HR team in a multi-outlet environment is preferred.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Proficient in HRMS and payroll systems.
