Job summary

Sugo Village in Penang, Malaysia, seeks an experienced HR Manager to lead recruitment, payroll, and people operations across its growing fresh mart network.

You will ensure compliance with Malaysian labor laws, manage foreign worker documentation, and drive engagement, training, and policy development to support growth.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of HR and payroll experience

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage full recruitment cycle, including job posting, candidate screening, interview coordination, and onboarding.
• Oversee monthly payroll processing accurately and timely.
• Manage attendance, leave, overtime calculations, and payroll matters.
• Ensure statutory contributions (EPF, SOCSO, EIS, PCB) are submitted on time.
• Handle foreign worker permits, renewals, and levy management.
• Coordinate with government agencies and agents on foreign worker matters.
• Maintain HR records and ensure data accuracy.
• Develop and enforce HR policies and company regulations.
• Plan training, development programs and performance initiatives.
• Drive employee engagement and company culture.
• Be main contact for employee relations and HR support.
• Ensure compliance with Malaysian labor laws.

Job Responsibilities

• Monitor and coordinate foreign worker levy payments in compliance with government regulations.
• Liaise with government agencies, immigration authorities, and appointed agents on foreign worker-related matters.
• Maintain and update employee records, ensuring proper HR documentation and data accuracy.
• Develop, implement, and enforce HR policies, procedures, and company regulations.
• Plan and coordinate employee training, development programs, and performance initiatives.
• Drive employee engagement, welfare activities, and company culture.
• Act as the main point of contact for employee relations and HR support.
• Ensure company compliance with Malaysian labor laws and statutory requirements.

Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of working experience in HR & payroll (Managerial level preferred).
• Strong knowledge of Malaysian payroll processing and statutory requirements (EPF, SOCSO, EIS, PCB).
• Hands-on experience in handling foreign worker administration, permits, and levy management.
• Solid understanding of Malaysian Employment Act and labor regulations.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Able to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
