RedONE Network invites a Health & Safety Engineer to own safety outcomes across ICT infrastructure projects and data centre activities in Johor Bahru.
You will work closely with project teams, contractors, subcontractors, engineers, site supervisors, and clients to ensure work is carried out safely, in compliance with applicable legislation and project requirements, and with risks identified and controlled before they become incidents.
We are looking for a Health & Safety Engineer who takes ownership of safety outcomes—not just safety documentation and compliance checklists.
This role is responsible for supporting and driving HSE performance across ICT infrastructure, data centre fit-out, structured cabling, and related project activities. You will work closely with project teams, contractors, subcontractors, engineers, site supervisors, and clients to ensure work is carried out safely, in compliance with applicable legislation and project requirements, and with risks identified and controlled before they become incidents.
Coordinate and monitor HSE activities to ensure compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 (Act 514), DOSH requirements, client requirements, and company HSE procedures.
Monitor site compliance with PPE, safe work practices, Permit to Work (PTW), and established HSE procedures.
Conduct regular site inspections and safety observations to identify unsafe acts and conditions.
Follow up on HSE corrective actions and ensure timely closure.
Support the HSE Manager/Safety Supervisor in implementing the project HSE plan and safety objectives.
Coordinate the preparation, review, and implementation of Risk Assessments, JSA/JHA, SWMS, and Method Statements.
Identify workplace hazards and recommend appropriate control measures based on the hierarchy of controls.
Monitor high‑risk activities, including work at height, lifting operations, hot work, confined space, electrical work, and other project‑specific activities.
Ensure risk controls are communicated to workers before work begins.
Review risk assessments when there are changes in work scope, site conditions, equipment, or processes.
Assist in managing workplace accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe occurrences.
Support incident investigation by collecting information, evidence, photographs, and witness statements.
Assist in identifying root causes and recommending corrective and preventive actions.
Maintain incident and near‑miss records and monitor corrective actions until closure.
Support emergency response activities and participate in emergency drills.
Coordinate and assist with HSE induction, toolbox meetings, daily safety briefings, and safety awareness programs.
Ensure workers are briefed on task‑specific hazards and control measures before commencing work.
Maintain training and competency records for employees and subcontractors.
Promote PPE awareness, emergency preparedness, housekeeping, and safe working practices.
Assist in conducting safety campaigns and HSE awareness activities.
Maintain and update HSE documentation, including risk assessments, JSA/JHA, PTW records, inspection reports, toolbox meeting records, training records, and incident reports.
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly HSE reports and statistics.
Assist with internal HSE audits, client audits, and regulatory inspections.
Track audit findings, observations, and corrective actions until completion.
Ensure HSE records are properly organised, updated, and readily available for review.
Coordinate HSE matters with Project Managers, Site Managers, Engineers, Supervisors, Safety Personnel, subcontractors, and workers.
Attend project and HSE coordination meetings and provide updates on site safety performance.
Monitor subcontractor compliance with project HSE requirements.
Coordinate site inspections, safety campaigns, emergency drills, and HSE activities.
Communicate HSE requirements and safety alerts effectively to all relevant parties.
Escalate significant safety issues to the HSE Manager and project management.
Support the implementation of the project HSE Management System.
Conduct routine site inspections and monitor daily HSE performance.
Identify hazards and recommend practical corrective actions.
Ensure HSE procedures and control measures are effectively implemented.
Monitor PPE compliance and safe working practices.
Maintain accurate HSE records and reports.
Follow up on outstanding corrective actions and ensure timely closure.
Assist with incident investigation and emergency response.
Promote a strong safety culture and continuous HSE improvement.
Provide regular HSE performance updates to management.
Support the HSE Manager/Safety Supervisor in achieving project HSE targets and KPIs.
MinimumDiploma/Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Health, Engineering, Safety Management, or related field.
Relevant experience as anHSE Coordinator, HSE Officer, Safety Coordinator, or Safety Supervisorin Malaysia.
Knowledge of MalaysianOccupational Safety and Health legislation, DOSH requirements, and relevant regulations.
Relevant safety competency certification such asNIOSH/DOSH-recognised qualifications, where applicable to the project.
Good understanding ofRisk Assessment, JSA/JHA, PTW, incident investigation, emergency response, and HSE auditing.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Able to coordinate effectively with workers, subcontractors, supervisors, engineers, clients, and management.
Good report‑writing and documentation skills.
Computer literate, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Able to work independently and manage multiple HSE activities at site.
Willing to work on site, including overtime, shifts, weekends, or public holidays when required.
Working hours from Monday through Friday 8:30am to 6:00pm at the site office in Johor, Malaysia.
Other responsibilities as and when required by the manager.
Ability to provide support during and outside regular business hours is required
