Job summary

Celestica Inc. is seeking a Legal Director 1 in Penang, Malaysia, to lead contract strategy and management for global customer engagements.

The role drives complex negotiations, risk analysis, and cross-functional collaboration across Contracts Management, Sales, Marketing, and Account teams. The candidate should have 11–14 years of relevant experience, a law or business background, and a proven ability to draft sophisticated contracts while mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• Eleven to fourteen years of applicable experience, including the management of a contracts organization.
• Bachelor's degree in related field (Law or Business), or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide contractual/legal direction and guidance across Contracts Management, Sales & Marketing, and Account Teams from pre-bid to contract completion.
• Integrate Celestica's Contracts Management and best practices worldwide.
• Coordinate with Celestica's global Contracts groups and other departments (e.g., ISS, NAOF, Proc., Ops) to execute and support customer contracts.
• Evaluate and prioritize divergent interests of Celestica and customers.
• Balance needs to be customer-responsive with protecting Celestica's interests through risk management and profitability.
• Work with customer account teams and legal counsel to translate legal advice into business practice.
• Provide contractual direction and educational support to all contract process participants.
• Demonstrate excellent writing and communication skills.
• Possess significant experience and knowledge of legal concepts, complex contract development, negotiation practices and risk analysis.
• Mentor junior team members in drafting sophisticated contractual documents.
• Develop and implement new global processes in a team-based environment.
• Maintain excellent attention to detail and strong negotiation/relationship management skills.
• Demonstrate HR and people management abilities.
