Job summary

WHH Engineering & Construction Sdn. Bhd. seeks a dedicated Safety Engineer to join the Pasir Gudang team on-site. You will develop, implement and maintain safety programmes ensuring compliance with legislation and industry standards, protecting personnel across activities.

This full-time role requires 1-2 years in oil & gas project environments, strong documentation skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams. Travel to project sites and a valid driving licence are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Piping Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 1 - 2 years of professional experience as a Project Engineer within the Oil & Gas industry and familiar with civil/structural, mechanical/piping, shutdown/maintenance works. Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Computer literate and must be able to prepare project documentation such as work method statement, job safety analysis, project progress report, etc
• Knowledge of structural and piping fabrication/installation and shutdown/turnaround maintenance works on static equipment
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and senior management
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and commitment to continuous improvement
• Valid driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain comprehensive occupational safety and health (OSH) policies, procedures and programmes across all operational areas
• Conduct regular safety audits, inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions
• Investigate workplace incidents, accidents and near-misses, documenting findings and implementing preventive measures to avoid recurrence
• Provide safety training and induction programmes to all employees, contractors and visitors, ensuring they understand safety protocols and requirements
• Monitor compliance with environmental, health and safety legislation, regulations and industry best practices
• Manage safety documentation, records and reporting requirements, including incident reports and safety performance metrics
• Liaise with regulatory authorities and external safety bodies to ensure ongoing compliance and accreditation
• Collaborate with project teams, site managers and operational staff to integrate safety considerations into all engineering and construction activities
• Promote a strong safety culture throughout the organisation through awareness campaigns, toolbox talks and continuous engagement
• Maintain and update safety equipment, personal protective equipment (PPE) and emergency response procedures
