Responsibilities

• Perform data entry and maintain accurate records for production, consumption, and warehousing.
• Support cost analysis by evaluating material usage and vendor pricing.
• Monitor cost variations and investigate significant variances.
• Prepare and post journal entries including accruals and reclassifications.
• Assist in monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings.
• Review transactions to ensure correct account codes and cost centers.
• Maintain supporting documentation for journal entries and reconciliations.
• Assist in preparing schedules for financial reporting, audits, and tax.
• Manage day-to-day accounting operations and records.

Job description

This role involves performing accounting and finance functions within a production environment, including data entry, cost analysis, financial closing activities, and maintenance of accurate accounting records.

Key responsibilities

Perform data entry and maintain accurate records for production consumption, material movements and warehouse activities

Support cost analysis by evaluating material usage, component alternatives, purchase prices and vendor pricing

Monitor material and production cost variations, investigate significant variances and identify potential cost overruns

Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, provisions, reclassifications and other adjusting entries

Assist in monthly, quarterly and year-end financial closing activities to ensure timely and accurate closing of accounts

Review accounting transactions to ensure expenses and other transactions are recorded under the appropriate account codes and cost centers

Maintain proper supporting documentation for journal entries, reconciliations and accounting transactions

Assist in preparing schedules and supporting documents for financial reporting, external audit, internal audit and tax purposes

Manage day-to-day accounting operations and functions, including accounting data entry and maintenance of accounting records

About you

Possess at least a Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting & Finance, or any relevant field

Experience in Finance or Accounting preferably within an engineering or manufacturing environment

Working knowledge of MS Excel and MS Word

Committed, analytical, self-motivated, and able to work independently

Reliable with the ability to multi-task and work well with subordinates

Able to operate accounting software (MACOLA is an added advantage)
