Job summary

Hitachi Asia (M) Sdn Bhd seeks a hands-on Field Service Engineer to diagnose, repair and maintain robotic and automation equipment at customer sites. The role requires learning new equipment, working with cleanrooms, and occasional travel for tool installation and commissioning.

Ideal candidates have 2–5 years in field service or maintenance, strong problem-solving, and good communication to support customers across levels. Safety compliance and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics, Mechatronics or related technical field.

Responsibilities

• Ability to discuss, diagnose & repair operational and process problems as reported by the customer.
• Troubleshoot, repair and maintenance of robots, control devices, mechanical units, transfer devices and peripheral equipment.
• Learn new equipment regularly and support customers with a variety of skill levels remotely.
• Work in cleanroom environment.
• Work with the JRA Singapore team during tool installation and commissioning where tool levelling, alignment, robot teaching, testing and debugging the tool will be required.
• Work in confined space which is required during tool installation and maintenance.
• Work at heights during tool installation and maintenance.
• Manual lifting work is required.
• Coordinate and perform scheduled preventive maintenance with customer.
• Respond to escalation from Intel as per the procedures attached.
• Observe all safety regulations at all times.
• Comply with LOTO requirements at all times.
• Conduct Levels 1 and 2 training to customer. Level 1 refers to operator training and level 2 refers to maintenance and troubleshooting training.
• Thorough documentation of each customer and incident using case reporting system.
• Self-directed to follow up with customers and internal stakeholders.
• Actively propagates JR culture within engineering and promotes our capabilities.
• Assist with documentation and “support guides” of recurrent issues.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team; ability to follow instructions and adhere to quality and safety policies and practices.

Job Requirements:

• Diploma / Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics or relevant technical field
• Preferably 2-5 years of experience in field service, technical support, maintenance or engineering.
• Experience in troubleshooting mechanical, automation or industrial equipment is advantage.
• Able to read and understand technical drawings, wiring diagrams, manuals, and specifications.
• Good in problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with customers.
• Experience skillset of make internal, external and depth measurements using vernier calipers.
• repeatability measurements using dial gauge / able to perform levelling using level gauge.
• Able to perform continuity, current and voltage measurements using multimeter / to perform robot teaching for accuracy and repeatability.
