Job summary

Estek Automation Sdn Bhd in Batu Kawan, Penang, Malaysia seeks a Field Application Technician to join our engineering team. This on-site role involves installing, commissioning, and supporting electrical/electronic automation systems for customers.

You will troubleshoot, train customers, and perform maintenance while documenting findings and coordinating with our engineering team. Travel to sites is required.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience with electrical and electronic systems in automation.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to travel to customer sites.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and test electrical and electronic automation systems at customer sites.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for system faults and performance issues.
• Conduct on-site training for customers on operation and maintenance of automation equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance checks and calibration of systems to ensure optimal performance.
• Document technical findings, system configurations, and maintenance activities in detailed reports.
• Liaise between customers and the engineering team to address technical concerns and requirements.
• Assist in design and customization of automation solutions based on customer needs.
• Maintain accurate records of equipment specifications, warranties, and service history.
• Travel to customer sites as required to provide on-site support and technical consultation.

What you'll be doing

• Install, commission, and test electrical and electronic automation systems at customer sites

What we’re looking for

• Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field
• Proven experience working with electrical and electronic systems, preferably in an automation or industrial control environment
• Strong understanding of electrical circuits, control systems, PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) programming, and industrial automation principles
• Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills with the ability to identify and resolve technical issues efficiently
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and system documentation
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical customers
• Ability to work independently in the field whilst maintaining high standards of safety and quality
• Flexibility to travel to various customer sites and adapt to different working environments
• Hands-on experience with testing equipment, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and diagnostic tools
• Valid driving licence and willingness to travel within Penang and surrounding areas
• Preferred: Experience with specific automation platforms or software relevant to industrial control systems
