Job summary

Malayan Flour Mills Berhad in Malaysia seeks a Facilities Engineer to lead the day-to-day operations of the plant facility and minimize downtime. You will plan preventive maintenance, supervise contractors, and assist with mill upgrades, ensuring safe and compliant operations.

• Enforce safe work procedures, manage vendors, and ensure PPE compliance.
• Lead 5S housekeeping and collaborate with Safety/Quality for audits.

Job description

Responsible and accountable for the day-to-day operations of overall plant facility effectively and efficiently with minimal downtime.

Plan and execute preventive maintenance and ensure facility equipment (Air-conditioning, Air Compressor, Passenger Lift, Electric Hoist, Fire-Fighting System, Water Pump system, PABX system, etc.), Waste Disposal, Building Maintenance are properly maintained, meet service quality and effectiveness.

Set and track daily tasks, downtime and plant related KPIs in order to support the manufacturing operation to meet its daily targets

Supervise and manage contractors for all facility works and projects.

Assist the engineering manager in any mill upgrading, project works including testing & commissioning of new equipment installations.

Prepare monthly reports - utility usage, projects, capital expenditures, evaluate service vendors, building maintenance status report and contribute added value on cost savings projects.

Analyze training needs, skill gaps, plan and conduct in-house training for subordinates to upgrade their skill and knowledge within the department where needed for enhancing productivity, staff learning & growth and career advancement.

Enforce safe work procedure (work permits, toolbox briefing), manage/supervise vendors, clean workplace and safety practices, where safety regulations and rules are adhered to with the necessary PPE issued to workers in order to prevent unforeseen accident.

Lead, educate and implement 5S housekeeping for the workshop including equipment, tools and all other model areas.

Perform any work or responsibilities assigned by the Management as and when necessary.

Collaborate with Safety, Quality, and other departments to ensure compliance with plant requirements, especially in internal and external audits by preparing documents, coordinating corrective actions, and following up on audit findings.

Job Requirements

Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Building Management.

At least 3 years of experience in facility maintenance, project execution, repair, and troubleshooting.

Experience in project management, costing, testing, and commissioning.

Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and lead a team.

Able to interpret schematic diagrams and prepare electrical schematics.

Independent, self-motivated, and committed.
