Job summary

Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation is seeking an Executive, Field Operations for Limbang/Lawas, Sarikei & Sri Aman. You will respond to approved field assignments, verify locations, access, safety and equipment needs, and perform ground-level inspection and first-line troubleshooting.

The role requires a Diploma or Bachelor's in telecom/electrical/electronic/network/IT, willingness to travel, and valid driving licence.

Qualifications

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical, Electronic, Network, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or a related technical discipline.
• Fresh graduates with suitable technical education or internship exposure may be considered.
• Basic knowledge of telecommunications-site infrastructure, including RAN, transmission, power, CCTV or supporting facilities.
• MBOT registration or relevant certifications are an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Respond to approved field assignments, incidents and dispatch instructions.
• Confirm site location, access, safety, equipment, spare and travel requirements before deployment.
• Conduct authorised ground-level inspection and first-line field troubleshooting.
• Coordinate remote troubleshooting with the NOC, Central Operations and relevant vendors.
• Escalate faults and safety concerns as needed.

Job description

Executive, Field Operations (Limbang/Lawas, Sarikei & Sri Aman)

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical, Electronic, Network, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or a related technical discipline.
• Relevant telecommunications field; maintenance, site or infrastructure experience is preferred.
• Fresh graduates with suitable technical education, internship exposure and willingness to undertake field work may be considered.
• Basic knowledge of telecommunications-site infrastructure, including RAN, transmission, power, CCTV or supporting facilities.
• Familiarity with basic test equipment, maintenance procedures and fieldsafety requirements is an added advantage.
• Valid driving licence and willingness to travel, work on standby and support emergency operations.
• Relevant first aid, working-at-height, electrical-safety, fibre, RF or vendor certification is an added advantage.
• MBOT registration as a Graduate Technologist, Qualified Technician, Professional Technologist or Certified Technician, where applicable to the individual’s qualification and eligibility, is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Verify equipment status, connectivity, alarms, power supply and environmental conditions.
• Coordinate remote troubleshooting with the NOC, Central Operations and relevant vendors.
• Perform approved restoration actions within the role’s competency and authority.
• Escalate complex faults, unsafe conditions, missing spares and external dependencies.
• Provide timely field status and restoration evidence.
• Execute or support assigned preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
• Follow approved maintenance checklists, work instructions and technical requirements.
• Inspect assigned RAN, Transport, power, CCTV, site, facilities and supporting infrastructure.
• Record equipment condition, readings, defects, photographs and test results.
• Identify incomplete, ineffective or recurring maintenance issues.
• Escalate defects requiring specialised technical support, procurement or contractor action.
• Conduct approved post-maintenance checks.
• Submit complete maintenance records within the required timeline.
• Conduct authorised ground-level testing using approved tools and procedures.
• Support fibre, transmission, RAN, power, CCTV and site-condition checks within the assigned scope.
• Perform basic measurements and record results accurately.
• Verify physical connections, equipment labelling, cabling, grounding, alarms and environmental conditions.
• Support equipment replacement, installation, commissioning or decommissioning where formally assigned.
• Conduct post-work verification and confirm whether observable site conditions have normalised.
• Escalate results requiring specialist interpretation.
• Conduct assigned site verification for customer, MNO, MCMC, YB and stakeholder complaints.
• Collect required photographs, measurements, equipment status and site evidence.
• Support field verification for network-performance investigations led by SAP or Central Operations.
• Support planned and ad hoc event assurance through site checks, temporary deployment and field-response readiness.
• Assist with project surveys, installation checks, commissioning, acceptance and handover activities when assigned.
• Record site defects, incomplete works, access restrictions and documentation gaps.
• Submit findings to the relevant technical, complaint, performance or project owner.
• Support on-site coordination of approved contractors, ASPs, vendors and service providers.
• Verify attendance, work location, assigned scope and site-access compliance.
• Observe work progress and record incomplete or visibly non-compliant activities.
• Confirm that required photographs, checklists, measurements and completion evidence are submitted.
• Report workmanship concerns, scope deviations and safety issues.
• Provide field evidence to the Senior Executive or Sub-Head for operational verification.
• Maintain professional coordination with site owners, landlords, local communities and authorised stakeholders.
• Comply with applicable PTW, LOTO, working-at-height, electrical-safety, road-safety and site-access requirements.
