Responsible for operating and maintaining the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) to ensure regulatory compliance, optimal process performance, accurate monitoring and reporting, proper waste management, and effective coordination with teams and resources.
Job Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor the wastewater treatment plant on a daily basis to ensure efficient performance and compliance.
- Ensure treated effluent consistently meets DOE discharge standards.
- Monitor and record key parameters such as pH, BOD, COD, TSS, and oil & grease.
- Manage and control biological, chemical, and physical treatment processes.
- Ensure proper dosing of chemicals and maintenance of biological cultures.
- Perform routine inspections, troubleshooting, and minor maintenance of equipment (pumps, blowers, aerators, filters, pipelines).
- Maintain accurate logs, reports, and environmental compliance documentation.
- Coordinate with operations, maintenance, quality, and safety teams to ensure smooth plant performance.
- Manage sludge handling, dewatering, storage, and disposal in compliance with regulations.
- Monitor scheduled waste generation, storage, and disposal in accordance with regulations.
- Assist in environmental audits, inspections, and statutory reporting.
- Manage procurement and inventory of chemicals and treatment reagents.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Environmental, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
- 2 – 3 years of experience in WWTP/ETP operations and troubleshooting or any related field.
- CePIETSO (BP and/or PCP) preferred; CePSWaM is an added advantage.
- Knowledge in wastewater treatment processes (chemical dosing, biological systems, sludge handling).
- Good understanding of EQA 1974, DOE regulations, and effluent standards.
- Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work independently and liaise with authorities.
