The Civil Engineering is responsible for planning, managing, coordination and monitoring civil engineering projects under the Development Division. The position shall oversee civil-related projects from project initiation and development of project brief, project scope, design proposals, drawings, specifications, Bills of Quantities (BQ), cost estimates, inspections an completion.
The Civil Engineer shall provide technical input for procurement and tender processes, including conducting site visits and briefing as well as participation in technical evaluation of tenders and quotations.
During project execution, the Civil Engineer shall monitor project progress, quality, cost and compliance, reviewing technical submissions, method statements and variations and conduct site inspections to ensure all works are carried out in accordance with approved design, specifications, quality standards, cost, and timelines, including identification of civil defects, determine their causes and recommend appropriate, practical and cost-effective rectification, repair, upgrading or replacement methods.
The role also includes preparing progress reports, attending meetings, and supervising subordinates, to ensure timely completion of the projects including liaising with end-users, consultants, contractors, and local authorities to ensure smooth project implementation.
In addition, the Civil Engineer provides technical advice on civil engineering matters and supports the monitoring of University building facilities and infrastructure to ensure safety, compliance with policies, and adherence to local authority requirements.
(a) Plan and develop project brief, define project objectives, scope, and requirements based on standard design guidelines and procedures.
(b) Prepare designs proposal, drawing, specification, Bills of Quantities and cost estimate on civil engineering related scopes.
(c) Review designs, specifications, materials and construction methods.
(d) Prepare technical requirements, support tender/quotation processes and participate in technical evaluation.
(e) Conduct site visit and briefing for the quotation and tender process of the assigned projects.
(f) Liaise and coordinate with end-users, contractors, consultants and local authorities in relation to the assigned projects.
(g) Plan, manage, coordinate and monitor civil engineering projects.
(h) Conduct site inspection to ensure works are carried out in accordance with the approved timeline, design, specification, budget, and quality workmanship.

(a) Possess a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from any institutions recognised by the Malaysian Government.
(b) Registered as a Graduate Engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia.

Possess at least five (5) years’ working experience in architectural field.
(a) Resourceful with strong knowledge in civil engineering works, construction technology, construction project management and site supervision.
(b) Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant engineering or drafting software (AutoCAD or equivalent is an advantage).
(a) Good command of spoken and written English and Bahasa Malaysia.

All candidates must have obtained: (a) Credits in Bahasa Malaysia and English language (including oral examination) at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level OR equivalent qualification recognised by the Government (for Malaysian citizens). (b) IELTS Band 6 / MUET Band 4. Candidate without any of these qualifications will be required to sit for the IIUM English Language Proficiency Test.
